Misr International Films is currently preparing to launch the 6th edition of the Panorama of the European Film which will take place in 3 different venues: Galaxy (Manial), Stars (Heliopolis) and Plaza (Sheikh Zayed) from November 27th until December 7th.

The Panorama is an annual event that showcases award-winning feature and documentary productions from across Europe.

Launched in 2004, the initiative has attracted an increasing number of spectators due to the quality and uncensored nature of films, the rich exchanges and debates with international guests and the various master-classes on themes pertinent to cinema.

For its 6th edition, the Panorama expands its scope by having an additional screen and by extending its duration to 10 days.

This year’s team is working under the supervision of Marianne Khoury, founder of the Panorama and co-manager of Misr International Films to bring to the Cairo audience a selection of over 40 films from all over Europe (with a special focus on Nordic cinema).

The Panorama will consist of 6 sections:
1. “European Cinema”: The core of the selection consists of European productions from the past year, focusing on critically-acclaimed titles from renowned festivals worldwide.
2. “Documentary Rendez-vous”: Documentaries from both Europe and the Arab world and a special selection of films created under the Euromed Audiovisual III program.
3. “First-Time Directors”: First launched last year, this section celebrates the remarkable work of upcoming directors and offers them a platform to showcase their work.
4. “ Education & Cinema”: Students from numerous schools and different age groups will have the possibility of watching films, which not only aim at nurturing their passion for cinema, but also intend to teach them the virtues of debate and critical thinking in an ever-changing Egyptian landscape.
5. “Panorama Classics”: A tribute to the most influential directors who made cinema history as well as to the discovery of film preservation through the screening of restored film copies. This year, Alain Resnais' first feature "Hiroshima Mon Amour" (1959) will be showcased thanks to the Technicolor and Gan Foundation.
6. "Short Films": 5 short films revolving around women in Egypt will be showcased during the Panorama. These films are the end-product of the “Women in the New Egypt” project, which is a collaboration between Misr International Films and the British Embassy.

These 10 days will offer special events celebrating cinema. Every screening will be followed by debates or master-classes in the presence of Egyptian and international guests.
