Despicable Me 2 Exceeds $900 Million Worldwide

After 16 weeks of release, Despicable Me 2 managed to exceed $900 million of worldwide ticket sales.

Starring Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell, Russell Brand, Ken Jeong and Steve Coogan, the film earned $364million in the U.S alone, and is expected to add $500 million to itsworldwide gross during the coming weeks.

Budgeted at $76 million, the film isconsidered the second highest grossing film of 2013, after Iron Man 3, which is settled on top of the list with $1.2 billion. DespicableMe 2 is also considered the 5th highest grossing animatedfilm in history.

The film is about “Gru”, thegreatest ex-supervillain, who struggles with his competitor whoattempts to occupy Gru's former leading status in the world of evil.The film topped the American box office for two consecutive weeks.
