Beyonce Pushed to Donate Money from Controversial Challenger Disaster Song

After the controversy she sparked whenshe included the audio sample of 1986 space-shuttle disaster. NASAhas replied angrily on the use of the audio in the tune, commentingit was a disaster where a lot of people died and not suitable forentertainment.

Beyonce has replied to NASA'sannouncement by claiming that the audio sample was a tribute saying:“My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challengerdisaster. The song ‘XO’ was recorded with the sincerest intentionto help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us thatunexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute thatyou have with those who mean the most to you.”

An online petition was launched byFlorida resident Sarah McNulty, urging the singer to donate quarterof the proceeds from the song to the Challenger Learning Center. The1986 Challenger disaster, the result of a faulty O-ring on one of theshuttle’s solid rocket boosters, caused the death of seven crewmembers. including schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe.
