A European minority resides in Ouenza District, Tébessa Province, Algeria in 1954, and thousands of Algerians work there. Among them is Al Amin Boularass, who was humiliated and expelled from the high school and finds himself forced to work at the mines. He is introduced to the rough conditions in which the miners have to live and work.
