Set before the 1952 Egyptian Revolution, Ali, a poor young man whose father is a gardener, falls for the rich princess Engie, but class discrimination stands in their way. As her father learns of their relationship, he fires Ali's father and threatens Engie with harming Ali if she doesn't leave him, so she gets engaged to another, upending the life of Ali, who feels that Engie has cheated on him.
