In 1975, the translator Omran Al-Garhy works in the antiquities trade in Luxor. In current times, he is the wealthiest man in his town. Nasr divides his time between being a teacher and being a tourist guide.
As both the principal and the translator grow resentful of Nasr, they lie in wait to bring him down. Nasr is suspended when he doesn't stick to the official curriculum. He also gets banned from entering the temple.
Nasr is tormented by his feelings for Omran's niece. When Omran realizes that the papyrus scroll he has is valuable, he enlists Nasr's help to explain its contents.
Nasr is shocked when he finds out about the papyrus scroll. He asks Omran to allow him to take it so that he could study it. He also tells him that he wants to marry his niece.
When Nasr discovers that the papyrus scroll details the exact location of Alexander the Great's tomb in Alexandria, he puts the whole matter into the hands of Chancellor Anwar.
After a period of hesitation, Nasr decides to confront Omran and inform him that he won't be giving the papyrus scroll back. Nasr decides to search for the location that the papyrus scroll pinpointed in Alexandria.
One of Omran's watchmen unsuccessfully looks for the papyrus scroll. Nasr puts his land up for sale so that he could start his journey. Nasr's rival, Dahy, tries to wed Omran's niece. Omran stipulates that Dahy must help him if he wants to wed his niece.
On Dahy's orders, a terrorist group sets Nasr's house on fire, leading to the loss of the papyrus scroll. Chancellor Anwar encourages Nasr to continue his search based on what he learned from the papyrus scroll.
Nasr travels to Alexandria to start his search. Omran's partner, a foreigner that they call Al-Khawaga, plots to force Nasr into submission.
Nasr starts his search in the Faculty of Arts' library. Chancellor Anwar tries to figure out a way to warn Nasr about Al-Khawaga.
Nasr prepares to move into another apartment after Saniya Asfour grows resentful of his presence. When Roqaia forgets the book he wants, he quarrels with her. The dean prevents Nasr from entering the university.
Roqaia feels guilty after Nasr is banned from the university, and decides to help him. Dahy and Omran learn Nasr's address. Dahy weds Zeinab.
Chancellor Anwar sends yet another telegraph to warn Nasr. Dahy beats Zeinab and threatens her to reveal that she is in love with Nasr, causing her to have a nervous breakdown.
Chancellor Anwar locates Nasr in Alexandria. Omran prepares to take Zeinab and Dahy to Alexandria.
As Chancellor Anwar and Nasr decide to confide in Dr. Lashin and Roqaia, they recount the truth about Nasr's search for the tomb of Alexander the Great.
Dr. Lashin takes the others to Al-Nabi Daniel Street to consult the maps and compare them to the location that the papyrus scroll mentioned. Nasr is devastated when he learns about what happened to Zeinab.
Omran and Dahy try to locate Nasr in Alexandria. A greedy employee from the Antiquities Authority tries to bribe Nasr for his findings.
Nousa Anbar decides to teach Omran and Dahy a harsh lesson. As everyone celebrates the engagement of Al-Saghir and Ne'na'a, Dahy and Omran plot to kidnap Al-Saghir.
Dahy kills Al-Saghir to implicate Hemdan. Nasr is scheduled for a press conference to announce his findings, which is met by anticipation. It's revealed that Al-Saghir is still alive in the hospital.
Nasr and Lashin's press conference generates a lot of interest as they announce the location of Alexander the Great's tomb. Al-Saghir succumbs to his injuries at the hospital.
The owners of the villa that lies on top of the tomb find themselves in trouble as their drug trade threatens to come to light. Dr. Mohsen tries to cast doubt on Nasr and Lashin's discovery.
Mohsen publishes an article to question Nasr's discovery. Officer Hamdy teams up with Nasr and his supporters to confront the drug gang that owns the villa. The governorate building witnesses much discussion regarding the archaeological discovery.
The city council unanimously refuses to sign off on the excavation. Nasr and his supporters decide to refer the matter to the Minister of Culture. Dahy gets his men to prevent Omran from escaping.
Nasr discovers that his apartment has been searched. As Nousa Anbar decides to aid Nasr and his team, she tries to trade her nightclub with the villa that sits atop the tomb.
Nousa buys the building that neighbors the villa. The villa's owners decide to get rid of Nousa. Dahy kidnaps Nasr, but the latter manages to escape and reports him to the police. Zeinab tries to help Nasr achieve his lifelong dream.
