Al-Naqshbandy goes on a journey to find his family after years of absence. The events go back to the 19th century when Muhammad Ali was the ruler of Egypt. Yazid marries Farga and has two children. Yazid's son, Dawoud, is taken by the army and sent to the education camps.
Atta's wife gets sick and wants Farga to look after her daughter after she's gone. Atta's wife passes away. Hoda admires Atta's ruggedness. Aziz asks Ne'maa to marry him and she accepts.
Muawiyah marries Galila. Atta asks Hoda to marry him, she decides to give him her gold for a year to test his honesty. Atta sells his shoes store and travels. Ne'maa gives birth to a girl and her husband decides to name her Rashwana in an attempt to get close to his manager Rashwan.
Hoda's assistant Ghasan tells her family about the gold she gave to Atta. Hoda refuses to marry Tharwat. Atta returns after a year with the gold, after he pays the pawn.
Atta recounts to Hoda his adventures in Yemen. Hoda's family threatens to disown her if she marries Atta, a mere cobbler. Galila tells her husband that she feels his late father's spirit in the house. Atta marries Hoda.
Hoda gives birth to a boy named Mahmoud. Dawoud returns home and learns that his father passed away. Ne'maa misses her old sweetheart, Dawoud. Atta manages his wife's fortune. Aziz and Dawoud go to visit him at the palace. Hoda plans to wed Dawoud to Roquia Al-Salhdar but her family objects.
Farga is disappointed that her son Dawoud was rejected by Roquia's family. Farga passes away. Dawoud marries Sanyia Al-Warraq, and Ne'maa is sad because of her feelings for him.
Hoda buys a throne for Atta and asks him to lead the life of a king. Rashwhana marries Sadek. Oraby stands up to the British and becomes a popular hero throughout Egypt. Aziz visits Muawiyah who tells him that the British occupied Alexandria.
Dawoud takes Gowhar to his wife's palace. The British capture Oraby and Dawoud tries to help him. Dawoud tries to exploit Gowhar in an unethical acts. Galila sees a vision of her husband in danger.
The police arrest Muawiyah, and Galila loses her senses and becomes immersed in matters of Jinn and sorcery. Dawoud takes Gowhar with him when he travels on business. Sanyia throws Gowhar out of the house. The family finds a letter left by the late Yazid, and his son Aziz reads it.
Ahmed's mother catches him with the maid. Dawoud goes to live with Gowhar. Dawoud receives a message from Hoda, asking him to attend her sons' wedding. Muawiyah returns home.
Galila helps Muawiyah get over his difficult experience in prison. Atta's health deteriorates and he requires the use of a wheelchair, Atta passes away during his sons' wedding, but Hoda hides it so it wouldn't ruin their happiness.
Hoda reflects on her memories with her late husband Atta. Dawoud asks Hoda to marry him, but she rejects him. Aziz approves his son's marriage to Muawiyah's daughter.
Mahmoud quarrels with his wife, Nazly. He leaves the house and goes to the estate. Hoda tries to calm him down. Aziz's son, Sorour, falls in love with a dancer.
Hoda tries to reconcile her son Mahmoud and his wife Nazly. Ahmed's wife, Radyia, has a miscarriage. Ne'maa visits Dawoud who treats her badly. Dawoud visits his father's grave.
Sorour gets married. Muawiyah's health deteriorates, he is unable to remember anything, and he dies shortly after. Both Nazly and Radyia give birth. Dawoud finds out that his son Abdel Azim got married without his knowledge
Dawoud treats his son's wife badly, and she decides to leave the house. During a family gathering, Aziz collapses and passes away. Years pass, and Dawoud becomes an old man.
Hoda's grandkids gather around her, and she tells them stories about their grandpa Atta before she passes away. Sadek's ex-wife passes away. Shahira travels with her husband to the Levant, then she returns to Egypt. In the present, Naqshbandy examines the family book given to him by Yazid.
Dawoud wants to reconcile with his daughter-in-law but she refuses to come to him. Radyia has a disturbing dream and wants to see her mother. Abdel Azim gets the tittle of Pasha. Dawoud passes away, and when Abdel Azim opens his will, he finds that Dawoud requested not to mourn him.
A man asks for Dananir's hand, but her father Sadek rejects him. Amr's daughter marries the same man who proposed to Dananir. Dawoud requested in his will for Ne'maa and Amr look after Gowhar, and Ne'maa decides to fulfill his wish.
Amr asks Abdel Azim to carry out his father's will and bury Gowhar in the Pashas' cemetery but he refuses. Amr's son, Amer, participates in demonstrations, and the police come to warn his father about his son's fate.
Abdel Azim decides to help Sorour's son, Labib, to get into medical school. Galila discovers that her son, Baligh, destroyed his father's guest room, and she kicks him out. Sadek has a health problem, and Bassem passes away.
Galila tells her family that she saw what happened to Bassem and Sadek in her dreams. Labib falls for Dananir. Hamid meets his sweetheart Gamila, and her sister sees them.
As Hamid joins the army and becomes an influential man, he tries to reconnect with Gamila. Qasem is sick and Galila looks after him. Amer wants to meet Abdel Azim.
A man proposes to Samira and she rejects him. Sanyia passes away, and everyone give their condolences to Abdel Azim. Gamila marries Ibrahim Al-Aswany, the police captain.
Samira reconsiders and marries Hussein, the man whom she previously rejected. Major differences between Hamid and Mahmoud Al-Marakiby' son threaten the family. Hamid asks Mahmoud for his daughter Shakira's hand.
Nazly is against her daughter's marriage to Hamid, but Mahmoud convinces her. Sadryia separates from her husband, Hamada, after what he did to her. Baligh wants to get married and his mother approves.
Sadek dies. Demonstrations in support of Saad Zaghloul break out, Hamid joins it and refuses to carry out orders to attack the protestors. Al-Naqshbandy wakes up in the hospital and realizes that everything was a dream in which he saw his family’s history.
