Medhat Agha has authority in the Koam Al Hajar region. He is married to his cousin Aziza. Medhat Agha orders Abu Ayed to slaughter a cow and distribute it to the farmers, and Bakri helps his father manage the café.
Abu Muhammad defends the rights of the oppressed peasants from Medhat, so the latter kills Abu Muhammad’s buffalo. Abu Bakri’s brother, Fawzi, kills a French officer and then escapes when he is sentenced to death.
Abu Muhammad is found murdered in Medhat's lands. When Abu Ayed accuses Medhat of killing Abu Muhammad because of his defense of the truth, Medhat imprisons him.
Bakri finds a wounded man on the road, and Abu Bakri treats him. Then he discovers that he has lost his memory, so he names him Abdel Razzaq. The criminal Abu Al Rus is released from prison and attacks the people of the neighborhood.
Kamal warns Abu Bakri of the French attack on Fawzi's house to search for the latter. Abu Bakri learns that there is a spy in the neighborhood on behalf of the French, and the French governor allocates a reward to whoever hands over Fawzi.
Abu Al Rus attacks Abdel Razzaq in Abu Anwar's shop and threatens him to pay the royalty. Medhat burns the homes of three farmers, suspecting them of stealing wheat. The farmers demand that Medhat give them their share of the wheat.
Abu Bakri is happy with the election of Muhammad Ali Al-Abed as President of the Syrian Republic. Abu Al Rus attacks Abu Bakri’s café and steals money. Abu Bakri becomes suspicious of Abu Abdo.
Abdul Rahman tells Medhat that Abu Ayed hanged himself, and the truth is that Medhat killed him. Medhat orders Abdul Rahman to bury Abu Ayed, then he claims that he forgave Abu Ayed and released him.
Abu Al Rus hits Abdel Razzaq and attacks Abu Anwar. Abu Bakri discovers Abu Abdo’s betrayal and his agreement with Abu Al Rus against the people of the neighborhood.
Medhat welcomes Hikmat and Warda in Koam Al Hajar, and Jumaa lies to Umm Ayed about Medhat forgiving Abu Ayed. Kamal warns the people of the neighborhood that the French will search them. Abu Salem issues a decree that the people of the village will not leave after dinner.
Medhat meets with the people of Koam Al Hajar and decides to distribute wheat to them on the condition that they work on his land. Medhat tells Umm Ayed that he forgives her husband and threatens Abdul Rahman to keep quiet.
Abdel Razek remembers that his name was Ayed and he was defending farmers, so Medhat beat him and that he decided to travel from Koam Al Hajar to escape the injustice.
Ayed decides to return to Koam Al Hajar and ask his father to forgive him. Warda buys a house from Ahmed and asks Abu al-Layl not to tell the people of the neighborhood that she is a singer. Medhat discovers that some wheat is missing.
Medhat learns that Awad is the wheat thief, and the latter refuses to confess on his partners in the theft, so Medhat flogs him and orders him to be handed over to the police, but Abdul Rahman helps him escape.
Abu Al Rus and his men go to rob the neighborhood, but they exchange gunfire with the police, so Abu Al Rus escapes and some of his men are injured. Bakri travels to take Ayed to Koam Al Hajar.
Ahmed marries Warda without his father Abu Bakri’s knowledge. Abu Bakri welcomes a groom for his daughter Fawzia, and Umm Bakri hides from her husband Ahmed’s absence from the house.
Fawzia gets married, then discovers that her husband's sisters are crazy. Wisal lies to Abu Anwar about her pregnancy and agrees with a pregnant woman to take her child from her.
Abdul Rahman steals wheat from Abu Rabie and distributes it to the farmers. Abdul Rahman wants revenge on Medhat for Abu Ayed’s death, and he lies to Ayed that his father is alive.
An armed man attacks Medhat and steals a large sum of money in agreement with Abdul Rahman, and Medhat has a nightmare about Abu Ayed strangling him.
Abu Bakri learns of Abu Abdo's work with Abu Al Rus to find out Fawzi's whereabouts and of Abu Abdo's desire to hand Fawzi over to the French. The neighborhood's senior men decide to expel Abu Abdo, and Abu Al Rus is handed over to the police.
Abu Khalil distributes the money to the people and tells Medhat that Abu Ayed sent this money. Medhat orders to open the grave to confirm Abu Ayed's death. He imprisons Ayed, and Bakri and his men escape.
Bakri proposes to Subhia, Abu Anwar's daughter, and Abu Abdo accuses Abu Bakri of seizing the gold that Mahdi placed under his house.
Abu Bakri decides to sell his house and café in order to pay the money to Abu Abdo. Abu al-Layl informs Abu Bakri that Ahmed has married Warda without his knowledge, so Abu Bakri beats Ahmed and kicks him out of the house.
Fawzi and Abed kill French soldiers. Medhat's nightmares recur. When Asaad divorces Fawzia because of her brother's marriage to a singer, Abu Bakri is sad because of his bad reputation caused by Ahmed.
Abu al-Layl informs Hikmet of Warda's marriage to Ahmed, so Hikmet sends a French patrol to arrest Warda. Then, the latter is sent to the police in Istanbul because she killed a person there in self-defense.
Medhat agrees to divorce Aziza and let her go with her brother Ismat on the condition that she give up her money. When Ahmed learns of Abu al-Layl's betrayal, he kills him and flees. Abu Bakri gives his house and café to Abu Abdo and works with Fawzi and lives in his house.
Medhat does not believe Abu Jumaa's assurances that Abu Ayed is dead, so Abu Jumaa is imprisoned, Medhat becomes insane, and he threatens the people of the village to hand over Abu Ayed.
Ahmed kills Hikmat, then Ahmed dies from a gunshot. Abdel Rahman kills Medhat. Abu Khalil, Abu Jumaa, and Ayed escape from prison, and Abdel Rahman confesses to killing Medhat because of the latter's killing of Abu Ayed and Abu Muhammad and his injustice to the people.
Al Mukhtar learns that Abu Abdo is lying, so he beats him and hands him over to the police. Abu Bakri regains his property and agrees to marry Fawzia to Qadri. Bakri marries Subhia. The conditions of the people of Koam Al Hajar stabilize. Abdul Rahman hangs himself.
Abu Anwar is shocked when he learns that he is not Anwar's father and that his wife lied to him, but he forgives her. Abu Bakri agrees for Warda and her son Abdul Hamid to live with him. Abu Ayed’s daughter Saada marries, and Medhat’s brother returns to Koam Al Hajar.
