The people of Zifta are saddened by the death of Ibrahim, and Kyriakou is afraid to stay in the village for fear of revenge. The patience of the people of Zifta is exhausted by Heshmat’s arrangement of a procession for the British in front of them. Ibrahim’s men agree to make Rabie their leader.
Gad breaks his silence to resign from his job with Heshmat Pasha. Youssef addresses the Directorate with a petition against Heshmat and the sheriff, resulting in the transfer of the latter.
