Laila's father tries to convince her to get married. On the way to work, Laila crashes into a taxi and clashes with the driver, leading Adham to try and break the fight. When Laila consults the doctor, fearing that she might have cancer, she assures her that her tests are negative.

Laila meets with Sa'eid and they start to get to know each other, even though Laila is upset that Sa'eid has stalked and photographed her. As Laila's father tries to convince Laila to marry her neighbor Fathy, he disapproves of his youngest's wish to marry before her elder sister.

Laila is shocked when Sa'eid visits her at work, causing her to lose her temper since he continues to stalk her. But when the wedding photographer she was waiting for is unable to make it, she is forced to accept Sa'eid's offer to fill in for him. Laila's father advises Laila to speak with Sa'eid.

Laila takes Sa'eid to meet her father, who suggests for Sa'eid to move into one of the apartments in their building. As Sa'eid agrees, he runs into Fathy, who tells Sa'eid that he is going to marry Laila. Laila grows angry when Sa'eid relays to her what Fathy said.

As Laila visits her father at the hospital, she runs into Adham and thanks him for his help. Laila meets her friend, who is in labor, and takes her friend's daughter to check on her mother and her newborn sister, whom they name Farah.

Laila gets angry when she discovers that her sister Mai's fiancé is at their house. As Mai tries to kill herself, Adham rushes her to the hospital, where it's revealed that Mai is pregnant. Adham tries to console the distraught Laila.

As Laila, Adham, and Fathy go to visit Laila's father, they discover that he has run away from the hospital. Laila looks for her father in various coffee shops until she finds him. As Laila's father apologizes for what he did, Laila forgives him, but grows upset again when he invites Adham over.

Laila opposes Mai's wish to abort her baby. Hassan takes Adham to the Civil Registry Office to get a birth certificate for his mother.

Hassan is shocked when he discovers that Adham has framed all the pictures that were taken of Laila. As Laila confronts Nader about his attempt to evade Mai, she grows upset when she notices that he is always in the company of a college student and going everywhere with her.

Hassan tries to help Adham in his search for his mother. Laila tries to console her friend after an unsuccessful third try to get pregnant. Mai tries to find a doctor to abort her baby.

As Laila tries to find Nader after he missed his appointment with Hassan, she takes Adham and heads to Nader's house. Nader claims to be out of the house, even though his car is parked right outside. As Laila shares what happened with Mai, the latter continues to think about having an abortion.

When Ghada tells Laila that she is pregnant, Laila rejoices and takes Ghada to buy things for the baby. Fathy's students get upset as Fathy continues to recite the poems he wrote about Laila in class. Nader asks Mai to abort the baby.

As Mai aborts the baby, the distraught Laila promises to pay Nader back for what he did. Ghada and her husband Ahmed rejoice the news of the pregnancy. As Fathy remains determined to marry Laila, he obsesses over her closeness to Adham.

Fathy visits Adham and discovers the pictures that he took of Laila. Adham overhears Laila's conversation with her friend about Mai's unregistered marriage to Nader and her pregnancy.

Just as Adham believes that his search for his mother is over, he gets a call from someone claiming to know where she is. But when Adham goes to meet him, he discovers that it was a set-up as thieves rob him. When he tries to report the incident to the police, he gets arrested for not having an ID.

As Laila asks Fathy to go to the police station to bail Adham out, Fathy proposes to her one more time. Mai tries to apologize to her father about what she did with Nader. Laila tries to resolve the situation between Mai and their father.

As Mai's father forgives her, Mai decides to cut ties off with Nader, especially after she meets Bassem. Adham gets a phone call from someone claiming to know his mother's whereabouts.

As Mai starts to get close to Bassem, Nader tries to win Mai back. When Adham is unable to find a bus to go to Zagazig to visit his mother's family, Laila offers to take him herself.

As Adham locates his mother's family, he is forced to pretend to be married to Laila. His mother's family tells him about his mother's marriage and the inheritance she left him. Fathy decides to keep his distance from Laila.

As Adham receives his inheritance, he gets close to his relatives. With Adham and Laila getting close, Laila confesses that she has no intention to get married out of fear that she will get cancer, especially since all the women in her family have cancer at some point.

When Adham starts to lose hope that his mother is alive, Laila tries to support him and asks him to keep the faith. As Mai and Nader partner up as they prepare for the exhibit, Hagar grows upset when she sees them together. When Nader asks Mai about Bassem, she shares that she is in love with him.

Abdel Maqsoud gives Adham the address of someone who may have information about his mother. Adham invites Laila to attend a party with him. Nader proposes to Hagar. Laila tells her friend Ghada that she is happy that she got close to Adham.

After having a good time at the party, Laila and Adham go back home. Laila takes her friend Ghada to the doctor and confesses to her that she loves Adham. Hagar tells everyone at college that she got engaged to Nader.

Mai is shocked when Hagar brings chocolate to celebrate her engagement to Nader. As Mai seeks out Laila, the latter consoles her and takes her and Ghada to the sports club. Ghada gets in an accident and gets rushed to the hospital.

Ghada passes away after her accident, leaving everyone in mourning. As Nader prepares to launch his exhibit, he yearns to get back together with Mai.

As Laila returns to work, she takes Fathy to meet Hoda and asks him to get to know her. Laila calls Ghada's husband, Ahmed, and asks to meet him.

As Adham's search takes him to Alexandria, he discovers that his step-father went to Lebanon with his sister. Laila runs some tests when she suspects that she might have a tumor.

When Laila discovers that she has cancer, she decides to stay away from Adham as she becomes overcome with despair. Hoda gets close to Fathy. As Nader quarrels with Hagar, her furious father smashes his exhibit.

Laila decides to keep the news of her cancer diagnosis a secret, but she is drawn back to Adham after the latter finds his mother. As Adham and Laila go to meet her, Adham's mother passes away after introducing him to his sister.

As Laila goes into remission after a successful surgery, she decides to marry Adham, much to her family's happiness. Fathy proposes to Hoda. Mai and Bassem's relationship becomes serious.

Laila's father is saddened that she kept the news about her cancer and surgery from him. As Adham decides to leave the country, he comes to change his mind and surprises Laila. Adham and Laila decide to wed.
