The family of Ahmed Abdul Jawad lives a strict life imposed on them by the father, where his daughters and wife work to serve him. Ahmed asks his son, Yasin, to visit his mother, but he refuses because of her bad reputation.

Ahmed asks Sultana to marry him and she tells him she'll think about it.

Yasin visits his mother and discovers that she is married to Zenhom.

Amina sees Fahmi flirting with the neighbor's daughter, Mariam. Yasin falls in love with Zanouba.

Ahmed scolds his daughter Aisha for her foolish actions. Ahmed helps one of his employees with money.

Ahmed is enraged when he discovers that his son, Fahmi, wants to marry Mariam. A man proposes to marry Khadija.

Ahmed objects to Hassan's engagement to Aisha because he won't let Aisha get married before Khadija. Amina is injured after getting hit by a car.

Ahmed throws Amina out for going out without his permission. Amina receives a visit from Shukria.

Kamal goes to his father and asks him to reconcile with Amina and bring her home.

Amina returns home. Yasin discovers that Zanouba doesn't know who his father is. Yasin sees his father with Sultana, and he loses all the respect he has for him.

Aisha gets married, and Khadija feels lonely. Yasin admits to Fahmi that their father is a womanizer and that he leads a double life.

Yasin marries Zainab with both families' blessings. Fahmi is preoccupied with revolutionary ideas.

Khadija gets married, and the citizens sign a mandate for independence from the English. Mariam discovers that her mother is in a relationship with Ahmed.

Fahmi's friend, Saad, is arrested by the English. Employees in all government departments start a strike until the English leave.

Yasin continues to see Zanouba after his marriage, and as the people continue their struggle against the English, Saad Zaghloul dies.

Fahmi tries to persuade his father to let him fight in the Wafd Committee against the English, but he tells him to stay away from political turmoil.

Yasin goes to bid farewell to his mother on her deathbed. Many demonstrators gather in the streets and there are many casualties. Fahmi dies after getting injured in the demonstrations.
