Saadoun escapes from the cruelty of his stepfather, Mubarak, and meets Mahdi, rescues him, and prevents someone from assaulting him.
Mahdi offers Saadoun to stay with him at his grandmother's house, and Saadoun tries to look for work.
Saadoun asks to work with the owner of the café and decides to stay there for the night. The teacher, Ibrahim, helps him to complete his studies. Jasman is upset that his stepmother kicked him out of the house.
Jasman contracts smallpox after sleeping on the street for days. Mahdi's grandmother agrees for Saadoun to stay in her house. The latter borrows money from Ibrahim to trade with it, but an unknown person burns the goods transport vehicle.
Mansour seeks to persuade Abu Ali to rent his houses to the British. Mansour asks his mother - Mahdi's grandmother - to sell the house to the British. Saadoun likes Salwa, Hussein's sister.
Jasman asks to work with his father in the store, and Mansour refrains from supporting his mother and Mahdi financially to force them to sell the house.
Jasman's father is unable to pay the rent for his shop, and Mansour tries to persuade Mahdi to cooperate with him in convincing his grandmother to sell the house, so Mahdi decides to leave school and work in order to support his grandmother.
Jasman convinces Saadoun to work with him to forcefully take their rights from the bad guys by stealing, and Saadoun regrets robbing Mubarak.
Saadoun suggests to Jasman to rob the British as revenge, and Saadoun gives money to Mahdi's grandmother to help her in spending, as well as to the needy.
Jasman agrees with Saadoun to take care of street children and orphans, and they open a shop that sells drinks. Abu Ali and Mansour disagree and break up their partnership.
After Jasman's father dies, Mahdi's grandmother becomes ill, and he fears that his uncle will take the house.
Mansour unjustly fires several workers, and Reem asks Hussein to file a lawsuit against him. Saadoun discovers that Yaqoub is behind the thefts that occur in the city, and Mahdi's grandmother dies.
As Mahdi's uncle takes the house and expels him, Mahdi tries to burn the house down, but Saadoun prevents him, and plans with him to steal the house's ownership papers from his uncle's office.
Saadoun and Jasman steal the house ownership papers and hand them over to Mahdi. Hussein agrees to Saadoun's request to marry Salwa. Saadoun is imprisoned after distributing leaflets against the British and the occupation.
Mubarak is seriously injured while working and is unable to move, so Jasman seeks to help him out of loyalty to Saadoun. Ibrahim dies, Mahdi asks to marry his cousin Zahra, and Saadoun is released from prison.
