As one of the rebels breaks out of the Citadel of Damascus and seeks refuge with Asaad Al-Warraq, the police try to find the fugitive. Abu Naeim (Naeim's father) kills his disreputable wife

Naeim grows angry when he learns of his father's crime, which causes his sister Hayam to get a divorce. As Naeim tries to convince his brother-in-law to take Hayam back, he is met with vehement rejection.

As Jassam spreads terror around, Asaad Al-Warraq gets in trouble when he clashes with a soldier while transporting his merchandise, causing him to be taken to the police station.

As Asaad Al-Warraq meets Abu Naeim in prison, Adnan Bey intervenes to get Asaad released.

When Abu Naeim's first wife visits him in prison, he refuses to answer her inquiry about why he killed his other wife. Umm Naeim (Naeim's mother) tries to convince her son to visit his father.

Asaad falls for Laila and hopes to marry her. Jassam tries to recruit some fresh blood to fight against the French. Hayam tries to get her children from her ex-husband.

As Adnan mediates to get Asaad to marry Laila, he accompanies Asaad when the latter goes to ask for Laila's hand. When Laila agrees to marry Asaad, the latter starts renovating his house.

When Hayam's ex-husband is ordered to give his children to their mother, he refuses to abide by the decree and decides to run away with them; however, he is soon forced to acquiesce.

Adnan learns that an officer has been stationed in front of his house to protect him from the masked man who has struck terror in everyone's hearts. Asaad starts working in Abu Samir's shop.

As the date for Abu Naeim's trial looms closer, Jassam comes up with a plan to take advantage of the nearing court date for both of them. The Master questions Asaad about his friend Ahmed. Hayam falls pregnant.

As Abu Naeim's trial arrives, Umm Naeim decides to visit him. Asaad continues to prepare for his marriage. Abu Naeim breaks out of prison with two other inmates.

Abu Naeim joins Jassam and the rebels who are hiding in the mountains. Ahmed tries to curry favor with his manager at work.

Ahmed wins his manager to his side after taking him to a brothel. Adnan asks Ahmed to finish preparing the house so that Asaad can get married.

Hayam loses the baby after falling down the stairs. As Ahmed's manager continues to frequent the brothel, he decides to give Ahmed special treatment at work.

Naeim is taken to the police station for interrogation about his father's escape. Adnan asks his daughter and her husband to move in with him. When Adnan is murdered, Asaad gets framed for the crime.

Asaad is interrogated about Adnan's murder. As Adnan's funeral is held, his son-in-law takes over his business.

Naeim plots to break Asaad out of the police station, but as he implements his plan, Asaad refuses to leave. Ahmed tries to sell Adnan's book, which he wrote prior to his death.

As Asaad's refusal to escape shocks everyone, the detective starts to suspect that Asaad might be innocent. Naeim finds Adnan's stolen book.

Ahmed is arrested for stealing Adnan's book. As Adnan's son-in-law is arrested, Ahmed gets acquitted in the wake of Ahmed's confession. Laila's father faces an awkward situation as he had married Laila off during Asaad's incarceration.

When the detective discovers that one of Adnan's books is missing, he questions Ahmed about its location. As a date is set for Asaad's wedding to Laila's sister Mounira, Asaad looks for a job.

As Asaad prepares for his wedding, he gets a job at a bakery. The officer looks for Adnan's stolen book. The French look for the hideout of Jassam and his men.

Mounira is saddened by Asaad's distance in the wake of their marriage. As a fight breaks out between the French and Jassam's men, the masked man attacks the neighborhood's guard and takes his gun.

As Ayman decides to take another wife, unknown assailants attack him. Naeim gets mugged. The ice breaks between Asaad and Mounira.

Asaad tries to secure a salary increase. Ayman reconsiders taking another wife and breaks his intended's heart. Mounira struggles to deal with a life of poverty with Asaad.

When Mounira holds Asaad's poverty against him, he grows mad, especially as she asks for a divorce. As Mounira attacks Asaad at the bakery, she loses the ability to speak and changes her treatment of him.

Afaf exposes Ayman in front of his wife, who kicks him out of the house. Mounira's family enlists the help of a charlatan to restore her ability to speak. As Asaad gets fired, the face of the bakery's owner burns off.

Laila gives birth to a stillborn. As rumors abound that Asaad has connections to the world of Jinn, Asaad gets arrested. Mounira's father asks Asaad to divorce Mounira. When Asaad gets released, he finds himself an outcast and unemployed.

Naeim takes Asaad in and tries to help him. As the neighborhood's people try to kick Asaad out of the neighborhood, he seeks refuge with Jassam and his men.

Asaad goes into the mountain with Jassam and meets Abu Naeim. Najdat discovers that his father used to be a spy. Mounira gives birth to a son. Naeim decides to make a decision about his sweetheart.

Tired of his life as a fugitive, Abu Naeim decides to turn himself in. It's revealed that Naeim is the masked man. As Asaad tries to see his newborn son in Mounira's house, he ends up dying to protect Jassam and Naeim.
