With all his siblings living together in one mansion along with their families, the Hajj imposes his control on them. When Ezz El Din raises his voice in a meeting with the Hajj due to his domineering ways, the Hajj falls ill, and the doctor tells his brother that he needs to take him to the hospital.
As Ezz El Din checks on his stores, the manager of his jewelry store informs him that his son took some jewelry without paying for them. Abu Rashid, the owner of the stationery shop, is admonished by his wife for his lack of ambition. Sheikh Salem quarrels with his son over the latter's bad reputation.
Halima and Hakim visit Sheikh Quwidar when they learn about his illness. Ezz El Din complains to the Hajj about his mistreatment of him. When the Hajj's sisters-in-law suspect that he is going to die, each of them tries to get him to write a portion of his fortune over to her husband.
As Hajj Quwidar gathers his brothers and their wives, he quarrels with Ezz El Din over his attempt to divide the family. When the Hajj announces that he will leave behind a will, Ruqaya tries to get close to him. Hakim visits Salem's house, where he meets his daughter Maneya.
As Ruqaya tells Doga that the Hajj is inciting her husband against her, the Hajj asks Doga and her husband to keep the palace after his death, so as not to allow Ezz El Din to take charge of everything. As Ruqaya steals some money and jewelry from Zahia's room, the maid sees her on her way out.
When the Hajj dies, the family gathers, only for Ezz El Din to quarrel with Hakim and leave. When the lawyer arrives to speak to Ezz El Din about the inheritance, his father admonishes him. Acting on the Hajj's will, Abu Rashid takes the papers recounting the Hajj's life story.
Salem asks Ezz El Din to buy the palace in exchange for a building. Ezz El Din catches feelings for Maneya. When Zahia discovers that her jewelry has been stolen, she tells the family that the thief is someone from inside the palace.
Salem reveals the reason behind his animosity towards Hajj Quwaida to his daughter, which is that his sister, Zeinab, was the Hajj's wife who died on her wedding night. As Ezz El Din proposes to Maneya, she agrees in order to avenge her father. The will reveals that the Hajj left all his properties to his son.
As Ezz El Din asks for Maneya's hand, her father agrees but only if the marriage contract contains specific stipulations. Hakim tells Salem about the Hajj's will and how he left everything to his son, Abdel Rahman. Maneya asks Ezz El Din to forget about his wife and kids when he marries her.
When Abdel Rahman decides to travel, he gives Ezz El Din a procuration to handle the business. When Hakim quarrels with his wife and beats her, she complains to Ezz El Din, who promises to get divorced. Hakim enlists Salem's help to find him a job and a place to live.
When Hakim's wife discovers that her jewelry is missing, she accuses the maid, Tawous, of being the culprit, which is backed by Zahia and Ruqaya. As Doga defends Tawous, the latter tells Doga that Ruqaya is the thief and that she saw her leaving Zahia's room. Hakim meets Salem's friend, Nasse, to work with him.
As Doga discovers the truth after she sees the Hajj's ring with Ruqaya, she tells her to ask Tawous for forgiveness. When Zahia tells her husband that she knows about his relationship with Maneya, he reveals that he is going to marry her. Maneya's brother is surprised that his sister is marrying Ezz El Din.
When Ezz El Din marries Maneya, Zahia is saddened that he left her and her children behind. When Hakim returns to the palace, he quarrels with his wife and beats her again, but Abu Rashid defends her and kicks him out.
Mariam loans Ezz El Din a large sum of money to open a jewelry store. Abdel Rahman leaves the country.
When Elias and his friend rob Ezz El Din's jewelry store, Mariam passes out. As Abdel Rahman returns from his travels, he grows angry when he learns that Ezz El Din has wed Maneya.
Abdel Rahman admonishes his son for marrying Maneya and writing over all his properties to her, unaware of the plot against him and those in the palace. Halima, Hakim's old caretaker, passes away. When Abdel Rahman cancels the procuration, Ezz El Din decides to bring Maneya to live in the palace.
Abdel Rahman passes away after leaving most of his properties to his wife and his siblings, leaving Ezz El Din to share one-quarter of the inheritance with the rest of the family. Furious, he informs everyone that he will take ownership of everything and brings Maneya to the palace, displacing Doga.
Salem visits his daughter at the palace and asks to go into Quwidar's room, but everyone in the palace stops her from entering the room. Hakim confesses to Ezz El Din that he has been working with Salem, who wed his daughter to Ezz El Din to gain access to the palace.
Upon learning of Salem and Maneya's plot, Ezz El Din buys a house for Zahia and writes all his properties over to her and his children. When her husband vanishes, Maneya goes to the hospital looking for him, but Zahia tells her that he is not there and that he wrote everything over to his children.
As Ezz El Din meets Maneya, he recalls everything she said about the palace. Hakim visits Salem and gives him the document that proves that he is his father, which Halima gave him before her passing. Salem passes away. Ezz El Din's children go to his hotel to bring him back to the palace.
As Hakim tells Maneya and her siblings that he is their brother and that Salem acknowledged his paternity of him, Maneya loses her mind. Hakim takes possession of Salem's house. Ezz El Din and his brother, Abu Rashid, decide not to sell the palace.
