Youssef attacks his ex-wife, Salwa, and is arrested on charges of drunkenness. Meanwhile, Mahmoud sneaks into the company of businessman Salem and obtains documents incriminating him.
Mahmoud prints the documents. When Salwa goes to her son's school in order to pick him up, he is happy as his father is waiting there. Salwa convinces her mother to get a restraining order against Youssef for her too.
Salem gets mad after the documents are published in the newspaper. The company's security manager, Bassiouni, threatens the editor-in-chief, who asks Mahmoud to go to the attorney general with the documents that contain the evidence threatening Bassiouni Taha.
As Bassiouni's men watch Mahmoud, they learn of his secret marriage to Salwa. Youssef sees his son in the party's garden as the court rules, and Bassiouni's men watch Salwa's father's house.
Salem files a case against the newspaper, and Mahmoud continues to publish the crimes and names of the corrupt. Bassiouni informs Salem about Mahmoud’s relationship with Salwa, and that she and her son are the key to returning the documents that Mahmoud stole from his office
While Bassiouni's men, Tolba and Shehata, ask Salwa to do an ad campaign, Alwan and Rizk watch Salwa. As Bassiouni plans to kidnap Salwa's son, Salwa suspects that the kidnapper is her ex-husband, Youssef, and confronts him.
After Salwa vows to kill Youssef, she learns from Bassiouni's men that the reason for her son's kidnapping is what Mahmoud published about Salem's case, and Bassiouni asks her to return the stolen documents.
Bassiouni gives Salwa a large sum of money and an apartment contract in order to return the documents. Salwa gives Bassiouni a copy of Mahmoud's apartment key. Mahmoud is promoted, and Salwa steals the documents that incriminate Salem from Mahmoud's house.
As Salwa asks Mahmoud to meet in a remote location, Bassiouni's men break into Mahmoud's house and destroy his computer. Salwa asks for a divorce from Mahmoud and hides the documents in her mother's house.
Salwa hands the documents to Salem while Bassiouni's men kidnap two of the security personnel on the night of the documents' robbery and hold them under Salem's villa. Salem interrogates them to find out the circumstances of the theft.
When Mahmoud tries to print a copy of the documents and finds a virus on the computer, he hires a computer engineer to fix the device. Salwa receives the furniture for her new home. Salem lets the security man leave after forcing him to sign a trust receipt.
Mahmoud discovers that Salwa has put her apartment up for sale. Meanwhile, the second security man's wife files a report of her husband's kidnapping, while he dies in Salem's villa, and Bassiouni's men throw his body on the train track, claiming he fell to his death from the train.
The security man's wife gives her husband's photo to the police to look for him. When Mahmoud learns about the death of the security man who helped him enter the company, he asks the second security man to testify against Salem. Later on, Mahmoud fails to appear at Salem's case hearing.
While Salem holds a celebration for his innocence in the case, Salwa calls Bassiouni, angry that Mahmoud may be imprisoned for defaming Salem. Salwa and her son are threatened with kidnapping. The editor-in-chief learns that Mahmoud was secretly married to Salwa.
Mahmoud decides to flee until he finds evidence of an indictment for Salem, and the court sentences Mahmoud to three years in prison. While Mahmoud prepares the visa and travel procedures abroad, Bassiouni's uncle asks Mahmoud to hide in one of the neighborhoods.
Mahrous helps Mahmoud change his name to Awad El Miniawy and gives him a new ID and birth certificate. Mahmoud meets Saadia and Wafia in the neighborhood and discovers that Mahrous is a fugitive from a blood feud case. Wafia refuses to marry Zaghloul.
Aisha remembers what happened to her dead husband. Salem is angry about Mahmoud's escape. The cafe owner in the neighborhood recognizes Mahmoud and his true identity. The head of the real estate registry monitors his employees, whose names are mentioned with Salem in the corruption case.
Mahmoud gets to know Wafia, her father, and the bookstore they own. Mahrous warns Mahmoud about Zaghloul, the informant. Salem asks Bassiouni to tell Salwa to leave the apartment. Mahrous informs the editor-in-chief about where Mahmoud is hiding.
When Salwa and her son return to her first apartment, she sees a message that Mahmoud had left for her. Marzouk asks Wafia to forgive him. Mahmoud works in the cafe and teaches Wafia how to read without knowing his true identity. Meanwhile, the editor-in-chief arranges to meet Mahmoud.
The editor-in-chief disguises himself, meets Mahmoud, and gives him a set of papers. When Marzouk attacks Aisha's house and frightens her children, the people of the neighborhood confront him, while his two wives come to shame him in front of everyone.
Mahmoud buys the shop from Marzouk and gives its price to his two wives. Aisha refuses a sum of money from Marzouk's shop's sale. As Salem is worried and warns Bassiouni about Mahmoud and Salwa, Salwa writes a letter of apology to Mahmoud.
The editor-in-chief is surprised by Mahmoud's purchase of the shop and converting it to sell desserts. Bassiouni's men fail to watch Salwa, who arrives at Mahmoud's house, but does not find him. Wafia becomes increasingly attached to Mahmoud.
Sherif confesses his love to Saadia and asks to meet her alone. Aisha runs the pastry shop with Mahmoud. When the documents forged by Salem in the real estate registry reach Adel's hand, he gives them to Mahfouz, the lawyer. Later on, Mahmoud confesses his love to Wafia.
Sherif drugs Saadia and rapes her. As Raafat sees Mahmoud in the cafe, Mahmoud claims that he is Awad, the coffee boy. When Raafat gathers information about Awad from the people of the neighborhood, he meets Mahmoud and decides to help him.
Saadia confesses to Wafia and Aisha that she was raped. Youssef tries to kidnap his son and travel abroad. When Wafia decides to confront Sherif to make him marry Saadia, he agrees and writes a paper admitting what he did.
Mahmoud opens the pastry shop. When Raafat publishes the details of Mahmoud's hiding in the neighborhood, the police attack it to arrest Mahmoud, but he manages to escape. Later on, Salwa asks to meet Raafat to provide him with important information.
When Salwa goes to the neighborhood looking for Mahmoud, she tells Wafia that Mahmoud is Awad. Wafia collapses and believes that Mahmoud deceived her. Meanwhile, the lawyer and editor-in-chief meet Mahmoud in his apartment, and they give him documents of his innocence.
When Salwa tries to justify to Mahmoud her dealings with Bassiouni and Salem and damaging the computer, he bursts with fury and rebukes her, but she decides to confess on herself in order to acquit him. Elsewhere, Sherif tries to escape, and the police arrest Bassiouni and Salem.
Mahmoud presents all the documents proving his innocence. As Wafia watches the newspaper, she finds Mahmoud with Salwa. As Mahmoud tells Wafia that he did not deceive her, she repels him. Later, a court hearing is held for Bassiouni and Salem.
Salwa confesses on herself in order to acquit Mahmoud. Youssef tries to kidnap his son, but Salwa prevents him. When Mahmoud hurries to the neighborhood and is surprised by Wafia's marriage to another man, he returns to his work and writes a novel about everything he went through.
