Hassan criticizes Abdullah at his mother's funeral and tells people that he is the reason for the delay in the disbursement of pensions. Abdullah refuses the staff sergeant's request to arrest Hassan, who tries to kill Abdullah, but the latter notices and then refuses to turn him in to the police.
Abdullah refuses Adly's request to give him the official approval to give money from his own pocket to the employees in exchange for deducting part of their pensions. Abdel Samad asks his brother, Abdullah, about the man who attacked him with a weapon.
Subashi Pasha sends his personal assistant to Abdullah's house to inform him of assigning him the task of monitoring the trade affairs of the commandery. As a private slaps him, Kamel tells his uncle Abdullah, who goes to the staff sergeant and asks for Kamel's right.
Abu Kamel (Kamel's father) gets angry with his brother, Abdullah, after he learns of what happened to Kamel and his taking action without consulting him. Mustafa asks the Mukhtar (village chief) to intervene to bring back Fawaz, his wife's son, to her from her ex-husband so that she can take care of him.
Hassan plots to drive a wedge between Abdullah and his wife Qamar as he sends a woman to trick her and tell her that her husband is in danger so she'd go with her. Abdullah quarrels with Mustafa, telling him he believes what his wife said, especially after Mustafa denies what his sister Qamar said.
Fathia incites her husband, Mustafa, against Zahra, his brother Reda's wife, to cause animosity between the siblings. Reda listens to the words of his brother, Mustafa, and divorces his wife.
Adly complains about Abdullah to Niazi and tells him that he is standing in the way of disbursing an advance to the employees. As Niazi confronts Abdullah with the matter, Abdullah tells him that Adly Bey is taking advantage of people's poverty and getting a large percentage of their pensions.
Qamar confronts Fathia and tells her that she thinks she had a hand in Zahra's divorce from her brother, Reda. Sabri asks Abdullah to write a letter to the commander asking that he give up his job (pension secretary) in exchange for supporting him in the new appointments movement.
Abdullah explains to El Shiry Pasha the extent of his embarrassment in the commandery after the delay in the disbursement of pensions and that some people have benefited from the matter to get a percentage of the pensions. El Shiry advises Abdullah to solve the affairs of his department himself.
Mustafa tells Reda that Fathia does not agree with Zahra and asks him to either buy the whole house or that he buy it himself and give him his share so that he and his wife leave the house, giving him time to give him an answer.
Reda asks the Mukhtar that his sister, Qamar, arbitrate between him and his older brother, Mustafa, in the matter of dividing the family house between them, whereupon the Mukhtar asks Mustafa and Reda to solve their private problems between the two of them.
Abdullah tells Subashi Pasha that he discovered many irregularities among the convoys of merchants registered with the state, and asks him for permission to search and arrest the corrupt.
Abdullah tells his assistant, Elian, that he found out that there is an agreement between Sabri and Adly regarding the selling of pensions to employees and trading in the matter. He also tells him that he will inform Subashi Pasha at the right moment about their trade and corruption.
Abdel Wahed warns Reda of his older brother Mustafa's treatment of him. Sabri incites Niazi against Abdullah.
Qamar asks Reda not to blindly carry out the orders of their older brother, Mustafa, telling him that Mustafa has coveted their inheritance from their parents.
Abdel Samad gets angry at Mahjoub after he tells him that there are rumors about his brother, Abdullah, as well as his wife, Qamar, and her behavior. Abdel Samad teaches Mahjoub a harsh lesson, and the staff sergeant arrests him.
Abdel Samad is released from jail after his brother, Abdullah, intercedes for him with Sabri Bey. Abdel Samad suspects that his older brother, Abu Kamel, is working with corrupt merchants, and as his suspicions grow, he starts watching him.
When the staff sergeant receives news of Mahjoub's kidnapping, he orders his men to search for him everywhere in the neighborhood. Abu Kamel tells the staff sergeant that he suspects that his brother, Abdel Samad, is behind Mahjoub's disappearance.
As El Shiry goes on a surprise patrol to the police station and asks about the prisoner Mahjoub, he learns that Mahjoub is not on the list of prisoners, and he asks Staff Sergeant Hosni to bring him immediately, otherwise he will have to face Subashi himself.
Subashi asks El Shiry to hand over the sultanic secretariat to Abdullah in the presence of the commander and his deputy, Niazi. Subashi asks Abdullah to keep a lid on the information he will tell him and warns him not to divulge the matter.
Abdullah receives the pension funds from the commander, after which Abdullah tells the employees that their pensions are ready for disbursement, and asks them to pay off the debts they owe Adly so that he does not use them for other matters.
Reda confronts his brother, Mustafa, and tells him that he has learned that his money is dirty and that he will not work with him in the shop again. Sabri and Adly Bey hatch a plot to get rid of Abdullah.
Subashi Pasha tells Abdullah that the governor wants to see him. The governor tells Abdullah that he has been assigned to follow up on the affairs of employees and people, monitor some high-status individuals, and expose their corruption.
As Fathia quarrels with Zahra, her husband, Mustafa, finds out and warns Reda not to let the problems between them be renewed. Abdel Samad tells Abdel Wahed that his suspicions were confirmed regarding his brother, Abu Kamel, and his involvement with Sabri and Adly in corrupt affairs.
Mustafa quarrels with his neighbor, and Abdullah intervenes to resolve the matter between them. As Abdel Samad's wife gives birth to her baby, he spreads the happy news to all the people of the neighborhood.
Mustafa asks his sister, Qamar, to grant him an official cession in her own handwriting of her share in the family house in exchange for a sum of money, but Qamar refuses to do anything for him except in the presence of her husband, Abdullah.
Abu Kamel asks Abdel Wahed to join forces with him and reveal who attacked their brother, Abdullah, and attempted to kill him. Sabri incites Abu Kamel against his brother, Abdullah. Abdel Samad tells Abu Kamel that Abdullah has come upon papers that incriminate him in the case of the mills.
Sabri tells Staff Sergeant Hosni that Abu Kamel is a partner in the mills which Abdullah inspects by decree of the governor. Sabri warns Abdullah that if he does not allow him to carry out his activities, he will tell Subashi that his brother, Abu Kamel, is trading in defective mills.
