A historical saga that follows the demise of the Umayyads in the East by the Abbasids in Khurasan, and the escape of Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiya ibn Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (Abd al-Rahman I) from the Abbasids. As it follows his journey till he reached Andalusia and how he came to ruling it.


Set during the period of the brightest eras of Andalusia, the era of Abd al-Rahman III and his son Al-Hakam II; Muhammad ibn Abi Amir, aka Almanzor, comes from Algeciras seeking knowledge in the city of Cordoba but then transforms from a merchant and hireling to the ruler of Andalusia.


The series portrays the period of the Taifas (sects) that emerged after the fall of the Umayyad Caliphate. It also recounts the history of the Almoravid Dynasty of Morocco and how they managed to preserve the Taifas from falling into the clutches of the Kingdom of Castille.
