The French general recruits Zahi and asks him to launch an extensive campaign of arrests against the neighborhood's youths. Wesal hides a number of the neighborhood's youths in her father Abu Kamel's house and tells them that she will follow in her late father's footsteps.

The officer interrogates Zahra and asks about the people and political ranks she deals with in Egypt, which Zahra denies. The officer apologizes to Abu Zahi (Zahi's father) for interrogating his daughter, Zahra, and tells him that it was a mistake that will not be repeated.

Salha tells the resistance men that the French soldiers are still in the neighborhood looking for them everywhere. She also asks them to hide at her place and, at the same time, plan the new operation against the occupation.

The French general sits with Salah and asks him about his knowledge of the resistance men; moreover, he asks him to make Sheikh Taj join in his ranks and promises him a great reward.

Ziad tells Mahmoud that the resistance men will not be silent about the extensive campaign of arrests carried out by the French army in the neighborhood. He also asks him to beware. The men of the neighborhood accuse Mahmoud of working with the French and ask him to quit working with them.

As Zahi falls ill, Salha takes care of him. Salha agrees with Abu Jassem to draw up a plan with the resistance men against the French occupation. Mahmoud interrogates a number of the neighborhood’s youths and asks them about the secret organization of the resistance.

Ziad summons Mahmoud and asks him about the reason for his quarrel with Zahi. Furthermore, Ziad asks Mahmoud to arrest any young man whom he suspects of belonging to the popular resistance.

Ziad talks with Abu Zahi and tells him that he learned about Mahmoud's betrothal to his daughter. Ziad tries to drive a wedge between Abu Zahi and Mahmoud and to convey the idea of Mahmoud's affiliation with the Ministry of Interior and the French occupation so that Abu Zahi gets angry with him.

As Mahmoud tells Aziza that he has been in love with her since he first saw her, Aziza reciprocates the same feeling of love. Ziad warns Mahmoud against his laxity at work and his constant siding with the people of his neighborhood against the French.

The French general asks Ziad to keep a sharp lookout for the actions of his aides and to search for the traitor among them, whereupon Ziad draws up a plan to find out who among his men is working with the resistance.

Ziad tries to recruit a man from the neighborhood to work as a spy and leak the secrets of the neighborhood to him, but the man refuses. Abu Jassem gathers the resistance men and tells them that the time has come for them to implement their plan.

Ziad arrests Zahi and Abu Jassem after he feels that they know the resistance men. Salha goes to the police station to talk to Ziad and tells him that she objects to the detainment of Abu Jassem and Zahi, so Ziad tells her that he will release them after making sure of their innocence.

Ziad launches again a large campaign of arrests against the men of the neighborhood and apprehends all those he suspects in order to interrogate them. Abu Jassem gets angry at Ziad's behavior and threatens him with revenge.

Salha quarrels with Zahi and tells him that she will not let him do what he likes to the men, youth, and women of the neighborhood. The French general meets Salah and asks him to recruit men to work with the French forces.

The French general orders Ziad to use the law in his extensive campaign of arrests in the area in order to send a message to the general public that the French occupation forces apply the law and do not violate it. Also, the French general asks Ziad to keep an eye on Salha.

Abu Zahi gathers the people of the neighborhood and tells them that Mahmoud died treacherously and that he was indeed working with the men of the Ministry of Interior, but he was originally working for the resistance men and that he was a first-rate patriot.

Salha meets with the women and girls of the neighborhood and tells them that the house of Abu Kamel will remain the house of the resistance even after his death; moreover, she informs them of her decision to lead them against the French occupation forces.

A large campaign of arrests takes place in the neighborhood with the permission of Ziad. The people of the neighborhood get angry with Zahi, and some go to his father, Sheikh Abu Zahi, and complain about his son's behavior.

Muwaffaq warns his friend, Abu Jassem, about Zahi and tells him not to reveal any secret to him. The French general asks Ziad that he meet Zahi.

The people of the neighborhood believe that Abu Kamel is not dead and is still alive and kicking. Ziad tells Zahi that the general asked to meet him and that he is very happy with the efforts he is making to help arrest the revolutionaries and the resistance men.

Zahi sends for Abu Jassem, warns him against working with the resistance men, and threatens him that if he makes sure of the matter, his end will be at his hands. Zahi's wife asks him to stop working for the Ministry of Interior and to work as a merchant in the neighborhood, but he refuses.

When Ziad asks Abu Zahi for the hand of his daughter, Aziza, in marriage, Abu Zahi tells him that he refuses the matter completely; however, he tells him that he will ask Aziza, who also refuses to marry Ziad because of his work with the occupation.

Abu Zahi is arrested and tortured to make him reveal the whereabouts of the resistance men, while Zahi is asked not to interfere in the issue of his father's arrest.

Zahi proposes to Umm Saeed (Saeed's mother) and tells her that he is deeply in love with her. Salha meets with the resistance men and tells them that the moment of exacting revenge on Zahi, Ziad, and the French occupation is drawing near.

Zahi asks Abu Jassem not to interfere between him and Wesal and tells him that he has wanted to discipline her for a long time. The resistance men decide to hold frequent, constant meetings as the implementation of the plan approaches.

Salha tells Zahi's wife that he wants to take Umm Saeed to be his wife besides her. Zahi's wife quarrels with him and leaves the house for him. Zahi turns against his boss, Ziad, and learns that he is the cause of the wrecking of his personal life.

Karim arrests Muwaffaq as he learns for certain from his men that he is working with the resistance men, after which Karim launches a campaign of arrests in the neighborhood to catch Muwaffaq's friends, and Abu Jassem escapes after learning about it.

The French general meets Salah and tells him that he had put forth his name to be a minister in the new cabinet that will be formed soon, but things did not go smoothly. Ziad gets very angry after he learns that Salah will not be among the new cabinet.

After learning that he is always approaching his beloved Aziza, Ziad accuses Omar of killing Officer Mahmoud and asks Karim to quickly arrest him. Hani marries Samira.

Abu Jassem marries Wesal, while Muwaffaq marries Fatima and tells her that he has been in love with her for a long time. The owner of the café tells the men and women of the neighborhood that the British have taken control of the country.
