The story of an intellectual with a cause in mind, that of Ghaylan Al Dimashqi, who was hired by Umar Ibn Abd Al-Aziz as a treasurer, but was later crucified by Hisham Ibn Abd Al-Malik, leaving the intellectual to compose a letter in an attempt to secure the release of Ghaylan Al Dimashqi from prison.
