The merchant Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir decides to travel to Cordoba to fulfill his dream of rising to power. His cousins, Amr and Ascalaja, decide to go with him, each to find his calling. Muḥammad is shocked at the painful reality and the difficult life there.

2nd Episode

Muḥammad goes to visit Minister Ibn Hadair to mediate for him to work in the Caliph’s palace, but the minister tells him to gain more experience first. Muḥammad brawls with the chamberlain's son for showing off his wit and intelligence in front of teachers and students, and the man threatens him.

3rd Episode

After Muḥammad defends Aisha, the daughter of the man whom he works for, he is arrested, and tortured in prison. Muḥammad meets Khaled, the blacksmith, and tells him his story and they agree to get out of prison and achieve justice, but each in his own way.

After Minister Ibn Hadair listens to Muḥammad, the policeman orders the man to release Muḥammad and he takes him along. Muḥammad goes to the house of Aisha, who thanks him profusely for what he did for her.

As the Caliph learns about Muḥammad's acumen and good writing skills, he summons him. After Muḥammad meets the Caliph in the National Library and talks with him about literature and poetry, he admires his mind and appoints him as a deputy for his son Abd al-Rahman with a salary of 15 dinars.

6th Episode

As the Caliph asks for Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir to talk to him again about books and poetry, he introduces him to his brother, who is his own librarian. The son of the chamberlain speaks angrily to Muḥammad and threatens him again. Abd al-Rahman, the son of the Caliph, passes away.

Everyone celebrates the birth of the Caliph’s son, whom he names Hisham. Muḥammad gives the Caliph’s wife a gift on the occasion of her new baby. The Caliph appoints Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir to head the secretariat of the mint authority. Muḥammad's mother departs this life.

Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir is nervous after the Caliph asks him to audit the secretariat of the state treasury. After the Caliph reviews with Muhammad the accounts and find that they are accurate, the Caliph tells Muhammad that he hasn't failed him and is happy with what he did.

The ministers pledge allegiance to Hisham, the son of the Caliph, in the presence of Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir. The Caliph learns of the rebellion of some commoners against the Slavs, and summons Chamberlain Jaafar to inquire about the matter from him.

The Caliph falls ill, becomes bedridden and then dies, after which a war against the caliphate breaks out between the chamberlain and Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir on one side, and the Slavs on the other side. The chamberlain and Muhammad succeed in enthroning the caliph’s son Hisham.

As the chamberlain decides to send a message of intimidation to the Andalusian Knight, Ghalib bin Abd al-Rahman al-Nasiri, he talks with Muḥammad ibn Abi ʿĀmir about the matter, and the latter agrees with him. Muḥammad overthrows the Slavs from power and eliminates them.

As Subh of Cordoba tells Muḥammad that her son Hisham has become a man capable of ruling and leading the state, Muḥammad tells her that it is too late for that, and that Hisham, after all, is a boy who cannot lead the state.

Subh of Cordoba tries to turn the Andalusian Knight against Almanzor, ibn Abi ʿĀmir, and have him on her and her son Hisham's side, but he shows great wisdom and cleverness in his dealings with her. Almanzor, ibn Abi ʿĀmir, insults Khaled, the blacksmith, in front of his cousin Amr.

Khaled resigns from the position as the police chief and returns to work in the blacksmiths market. The Andalusian Knight, Ibn Hamdoun, turns against Almanzor, ibn Abi ʿĀmir, and orders the men to chain him, but the soldiers refuse, and Almanzor orders the arrest of Ibn Hamdoun.

Garcé Sanchez, King of Navarre, offers his daughter Elisa as a wife to Almanzor, despite her objection. But Garcé attacks Muslims, so Almanzor fights him, surviving an assassination attempt, then arrests his friend Khaled, and relieves his friend Ziyad from his position as the city's governor.

Finale

Almanzor admonishes Caliph Hisham for knowing about his mother's incitement against him and not lifting a finger to stop her. Hisham brawls with his mother and refuses her interference in the state affairs. Almanzor argues with Amr, who tells him that he will remain the greatest man he has ever known.
