Emma Alpert | This film depicts a fictionalized account of the real-life events surrounding the first women’s baseball league in the U.S. In 1943, when the events of World War II threatened to shut down Major League Baseball, a group of team owners decided to start the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) is one of the star players recruited to start in the league, along with her kid sister, Kit (Lori Petty).
