Anya and Piotr celebrate their wedding and young Valery plants an apple tree with the knowledge of his physicist father Alexei, who works at the station near Chernobyl. Forest guard Nikolay is patrolling as usual when an accident occurs at the station, and the radioactive leakage changes everything, and when Piotr volunteers to try to put out the fire, he never returns.
