Zaido's father dies fighting in a fierce battle against the army forces; Zaido and the warriors manage to kill the majority of soldiers. Lilia accuses Abu Taher of seizing her grandfather's land. Zaido asks his mother about what his father said prior to his death.
Abboud plans to take revenge on Abu Taher after a dispute flares up between the two neighborhoods, and officer Abu Johar tries to reconcile the two neighborhoods. Zaido learns that his mother was the midwife in Abu Taher's neighborhood years before she and her husband left it.
After the reconciliation, Zaido asks his mother to return to the neighborhood. Leader Abu Hamdy refuses to get his wife a maid, on part because he hates luxuries, and on another because they don't have children. Assem plans to deceive Abu Taher by getting his workers to work at his land.
Zaido starts working for the leader, and Fakhreya suspects that Zaido is the leader's son. Abboud tells Assem that he loves Narjes, and he abhors her stay at Zaido's mother's house. Fakhreya doesn't want Zaido's mother to be her niece's midwife.
Fakhreya urges her niece to refuse to be examined by Zaido's mother after the banquet. Assem, meanwhile, is trying to seize Abu Shokry's property with the help of officer Abu Johar.
Assem accepts to help Abu Marey and Abboud to take revenge on Abu Taher provided that they obey his orders. Abu Shokry heads to the leader to get his help to foul Abboud's plan. Abboud attacks Zaido's house. Zaido is arrested for having a firearm.
Zaido's mother reminisces over the past and recalls how she and Fakhreya took Zaido away from his real mother. At the prison, Zaido recalls his father's last words and wonders what it is his father asked his forgiveness for.
The leader's brother claims his share in properties, but the leader writes all his property to Zaido because he trusts he will preserve it. Tahseen, Fakhreya's cousin, constantly annoys Zaido, and Assem also threatens him.
The leader inspires Zaido not to give up and to stand up for himself against any assault or molestation. He also meets with Abboud and informs him that Taher is innocent; he didn't kill his father. Shokry's wife incites him against his father.
Abu Shokry throws a party in celebration of Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi to which he invites all the neighborhood. Fakhreya tries to get Om Myasser to spy on Zaido's mother for her.
Zaido gives the leader a gun as a precaution to protect the house, but the leader rejects the idea. Sobhy's wife insists on divorce if he doesn't buy her a separate house. Moaz urges Abu Mahfouz to stay away from him and his mother.
The leader affirms to his father that he bought the Khan with his own money, not with their father's inheritance. Assem sends his men to have Zaido murdered, but Zaido survives, and the officer starts an investigation to learn who is the culprit.
The gendarmes spread out in the neighborhood in search of weapons. Abu Jawhara worries that the neighborhood's problems might reach the Sarary. Abboud confesses to Bary that he is the one who shot Zaido.
The leader asks Sobhy to drop the report against his brother, but Sobhy refuses. Meanwhile, the grip on Taher and his father is tightened, and Abboud asks for a huge ransom to enable them to return to the neighborhood. Upon Fakhreya's request, Om Myasser steals things from Zaido's closet.
At the leader's command, Abboud attacks Taher's house, but Zaido intervenes. Assem plots to take revenge on Abu Mahfouz and everyone who contributed to his imprisonment. Abu Zaki suspects that Taher is involved in killing Abboud's father.
The leader blames Sobhy's father for his son's poor upbringing. Narjes refuses to marry Awad. Zaido tries to help enroll Moaz in the Kuttab. Assem tries to incite Abboud and Sobhy against Zaido.
Assem sends his men to murder Zaido's mother, but luckily, Tahseen goes to Narjes's house to talk to Salwa, and Zaido's mother shoots him. Abboud submits a report against Taher accusing him of murdering his father.
Sobhy's father is distressed since he cannot collect the necessary money to bail out his son Ramzy from prison. The leader decides to give half of the land's money to Fakhreya and the other half to his brother Shokry. Zaido hides the resistance weapons at Salwa's house.
Narjes refuses to marry Awad even though she admits he's a good person, but she doesn't love him. Sobhy still won't forgive his brother or drop the case against him.
Sobhy's father puts up his house for sale to rescue his imprisoned son. Zaido's mother asks the leader to take care of Zaido's wedding expenses especially after her money was stolen. Fakhreya fears that Zaido's mother might reveal her secret.
Assem plots to have Zaido murdered. Zaido, meanwhile, proposes to Narjes. Abu Jawhar rapes Azmy's wife and has her locked up with her husband.
Sobhy confesses that Assem incited him against his brother Azmi; Azmi and his wife are released whereas Sobhy is imprisoned. The leader is arrested on charges of possession of arms.
In the leader's absence, Shokry's mother plans to seize his fortune and her husband tries to take up the leader's position.
Abu Shokry swears to take revenge on Abu Kasser and Abo Daas after they get out of prison. Abboud disappears. Assem facilitates the leader's release from prison, even though Assem is the one who had him imprisoned in the first place.
The army is provided with arms, and the leader asks Assem to inform the neighborhood that Zaido is under his protection. Abu Mereb is getting ready to attack the neighborhood, and the leader orders everyone to stay at their homes.
The leader suspects there is a traitor among his army. Meanwhile, Abu Mereb attacks the neighborhood with troops of armed men and french forces. Abu Shokry holds Zaido accountable for the attack and calls for overthrowing the leader. Zaido's mother is murdered.
Zaido has a nervous breakdown following his mother's death, and the leader promises to avenge her death. Meanwhile, Zaido finds a key at his house, and he intends to regard it an evidence that will lead him to his mother's murderer.
Fakhreya's claims that she gave the leader's money to Zaido's mother while he was in prison. Azmy rescues his brother, and Sobhy gives orders to Abu Kasser and Abu Daas to murder the leader.
The leader's suspicions regarding his wife Fakhreya are increasing as she refuses to return to the neighborhood. She confesses that Zaido is his own son. As luck would have it, as he was going to meet Zaido, the leader is murdered, and Assem becomes the new leader.
To get rid of Abu Shokry, Assem falsely claims that he had a hand in murdering the leader. Fakhreya meanwhile is susceptible to haunting dreams where she envisions unpleasant recollections. Assem is thinking about murdering Zaido.
Fawzy murders Abu Jawhar to avenge his wife, and the French forces try to identify the murderer. Devoured by her sense of guilt, Fakhreya informs Zaido about his past and tells him that he's the leader's son. To avenge the murder of his father, Zaido murder Abu Daas.
