Hala Al-Shalshamony is a psychiatrist who suffers from the bigoted attitude of the hospital manager, Nagaty Abu Al-Azm. She decides to go to a fellow psychiatrist to unload and decompress.
Nagaty decides to bother Hala by forcing her to check up on Fawzy Al-Bartmany, which causes a huge problem when she is unable to control Fawzy, who pulls a gun on her.
Hala quarrels with her conservative neighbor after he sees her chatting with their neighbor, the dancer Dody. Hala appears on TV to announce that she has found evidence for collective depression in Egypt, but Nagaty intervenes to discredit her claims.
With his daughter suffering from depression and her psychological state going from bad to worse, the bussinessman Roshy asks Hala to come to his villa, but she refuses.

Hala recognizes that Amal has multiple personality disorder and that she is alternating between two personalities, which poses a huge challenge for Hala.
Kamal convinces Nawal not to quit her job. Hala tries to prove to Nagaty that her diagnosis of Amal is correct. Hala is arrested for taking photos of a military area. The 25 January Revolution breaks out.
Dalia comes clean to her sweetheart about her psychological condition. Hala tries to find a way to help Amal. Lotfy Zidane invites Amal to his villa and talks to her about some important documents that her late sister was in possession of.

Hala tries to figure out a way to get the documents from Amal. Amal starts treatment, hoping to speed up her recovery. Hala finds the documents. Nagaty is rushed to the hospital after Lotfy Zidane shoots him.
As Nagaty recovers, he tries to reconcile with Hala and restore their old relationship, but he ends up making her mad.
When Hala tells Roshdy that he needs a wife, he confesses his feelings for her and proposes. As Hala mulls over the proposal, Nagaty grows jealous.
Hala receives two new patients who belong to the upper caste, each of them suffering from a different psychological problem.
Marwa enlists Hala's help with two patients; one who has trouble dealing with the current reality, and another whose son died just before his wedding.
When Hala's friend Elham visits her, they reminisce about the old days, until Elham starts talking about her problems and accuses Hala of stealing her husband. Hala discovers that Elham is married to Nagaty.
Nagaty proposes to Hala. When Roshdy finds out, he shares the news that Hala is about to start her job at the new hospital. Hala finishes her thesis, titled The Guava Theory. Hala receives her doctorate
Dr. Nagaty and Hala become the managers of the new hospital. As Kamal confides in Hala about his problems with Nawal, Hala gives him advice about how to deal with her.
Hala receives a businessman at the hospital. As he tells her about his wife who is grief-stricken over her father's death, Hala meets up with his wife.
Hala is caught between the couple she just met, since each gave her a different version of events. The June 30 protests sweep the streets.
As the condition of the businessman's wife starts to gradually improve, Hala's conservative neighbor decides to become the host for an entertainment show in the wake of the June 30 revolution.
Nagaty rebukes Hala when she bungles up a meeting with the bussinessman. Nagaty and Hala celebrate their wedding.
