Abdel Aal tries to reconcile his mother and his wife, Nafisa, while Murad threatens Abdel Aal because of his position on the British, that he may be imprisoned or exiled. Hashim agrees with the guerrillas to strike the occupation.

One of the guerrillas is arrested during the killing of Murad Pasha and the British officer, and the guerrillas hide in the apartment of Firdaus, the belly dancer. Abdel Aal faces the British forces in Upper Egypt while they are gathering peasants to join England in the war against Turkey.

Nafisa attends a party held at Farida's in the presence of British officers. Abdel Aal is arrested and then released, while journalist Tharwat conducts an interview with Farida, Murad's wife, to find out the entrances to the palace in order to steal Murad's diaries and important documents.

Raifa El Shamshargy asks Abdel Aal Pasha to stand by her against her uncle, who accuses her of killing her husband. Murad Pasha's documents and diaries are stolen by Hashim and Shafi'i after they entered the palace as telephone company workers.

Sultan Hussein dies, and Murad Thabet’s journal and correspondence with the British are distributed in leaflets. Hashim is arrested while distributing these leaflets, while Nafisa continues to attend parties held at Farida’s in the presence of British officers.

Barakat is arrested, while Abdel Aal attends the inauguration ceremony of Sultan Fuad, and faces problems for refusing to kiss the Sultan’s hand.

Abdel Aal accepts the position of Minister of Justice, upon the Sultan's nomination, for fear of being exiled if he refuses. The communist movement emerges in Egypt, led by Al Saidi. Abdel Aal is embarrassed after pictures of Nafisa dancing with the British flag are published, leading to her divorce.

Hashim escapes from prison and hides with Firdaus. At the same time, a large party is held in the house of Murad Pasha, during which the guerrillas blow up the palace, while Abdel Aal Pasha marries Raifa Hanem.

World War I comes to an end, and Murad is fired from his job after the palace bombing, which resulted in the deaths of many British soldiers, while Shafi'i informs Murad Thabet about Hashim and his hiding place.

Nafisa tries to commit suicide, and Hashim is sent to Upper Egypt. Shafi'i defects from the group and reports Hashim using his leaflets in exchange for a reward, while the Egyptians begin granting Saad Zaghloul power of attorney to negotiate independence.

The authorities arrest Shafi'i after he revealed Hashim's location in Upper Egypt, and impose house arrest on Abdel Aal in his palace and prevent him from writing articles.

Hashim and Tharwat hide inside a cave in Upper Egypt, while Abdel Aal Pasha collects powers of attorney of peasants for Saad Pasha and his comrades, and the activity of the communist movement grows inside Egypt.

The communist group is established, led by Ahmed Al Saidi and Raafat Pasha, and workers begin being gathered for demonstrations. The British issue a decision preventing district employees from signing powers of attorney, and the people take to the streets in protest.

The British government refuses to let Saad Pasha and the people's representatives travel, so Roshdy resigns. Murad returns to his position as the chief of police’s assistant. The guerrillas join Abdul Rahman Fahmi's group, while the students demonstrate in rejection of the Sultan's decisions against Saad.

Saad is summoned to meet Watson, the authorities arrest Communist Party workers, and Saad Zaghloul and Sidky are then arrested and exiled to Malta.

The people's demonstrations sweep the streets of Cairo marking the revolution of 1919, and Barakat continues to print leaflets to pressure the palace and the British to allow Saad's travel, while the activity of secret, Islamic, and communist groups increases.

The occupation tries to divide the national ranks by coming between Muslims and Christians, so demonstrations take place raising the crescent and cross symbols, and martial law is imposed, while Shafi'i reports Barakat and Tharwat and their gathering place in Shubra.

The first communist organization is established in Egypt and strikes break out in most factories, while Hashim escapes from Upper Egypt and is arrested.

The lawyers' strike and Adly's factory’s workers' sit-in begin. The British burn entire villages to suppress the revolution. Officer Nassim is arrested and executed. Murad marries Nafisa, who warns Abdel Aal about what is happening, and the Sultan issues a decree releasing Saad.

Saad’s travel to negotiate independence is approved, while Abdel Aal is accused of masterminding the Upper Egypt train incident, violating his house arrest, leading demonstrations, and writing articles to stir up the public.

Someone attempts to kill Shafi'i from the Shubra group because of his betrayal, but he is rescued by Barakat, and then plans are made to kill Murad. Shafi'i is arrested, and he reveals the location of Tharwat and his companions, after which Abdel Aal is arrested.

Abdel Aal and the detainees go on a hunger strike coinciding with the British minister’s visit, and Egypt is declared a British protectorate. Saad issues instructions to confront whoever accepts the formation of the ministry, coinciding with the assassination of British soldiers. Murad arrests Al Saidi.

Abdel Aal attacks Saad in an article due to his agreement with the Milner Commission, and accuses him of wasting the gains of the 1919 Revolution, especially after the failure of the negotiations. Abdul Rahman Fahmi is arrested for supervising the activity of secret groups.

The Shubra apartment is attacked, so Tharwat and Youssef flee and hide in her aunt's apartment. Hashim and Barakat also flee, while Saad returns to Cairo.

Adly resumes negotiations with the Milner Commission and Saad awaits their results in England, while Raafat is beaten by State Security officers on Murad's orders.

Saad returns from England. Hashim turns into a national hero with secret operations being named after him. The Shubra group places the Egyptian flag at the directorate’s office before Hashim falls and breaks his leg.

Sarwat becomes Prime Minister. As Saad, el-Nahas, and Makram Ebeid are exiled to the Seychelles, protests break out, and protestors and Hussein, Barakat's son, are killed. As the Socialist Party is established, led by Raafat, it requests to join the Communist International. The Shubra group kills Maxwell.

The British Parliament approves the February 28 statement and theoretically ends the state of Egypt being a British protectorate. Hashim, Barakat, and their comrades carry out an explosion in the British camp, and Shafi'i manages to save them from arrest.

The Shubra group carries out a killing of a number of British soldiers inside a club. At the same time, the 1923 Constitution is written that recognizes the beginning of the country's parliamentary election system.

Sarwat's government resigns and Mohamed Tawfik is assigned to form a new government. Saad Zaghloul returns to the country and the political prisoners are released, while Al Saidi returns, seeking to regain his position within the Socialist Party.

Saad meets with the King and accepts to form the new government. The Free Egypt Group meets in Abdel Aal's house to plan armed operations. They manage to obtain a map of the British weapon warehouses and plan to blow them up.

The King plots with the British to have the British Sirdar assassinated by a member of a patriotic cell to embarrass Saad's government. Weapon warehouses are blown up in Ismailia, while Raafat is killed by the State Security police, and Murad is put on trial and stripped of his rank.

The resistance cell plans to assassinate Lord George, the British High Commissioner. Hashim, his comrades, and Officer Rifaat are arrested and death sentences are issued against them, and the death of Saad Zaghloul is announced.
