Under the Ashes

One of the guerrillas is arrested during the killing of Murad Pasha and the British officer, and the guerrillas hide in the apartment of Firdaus, the belly dancer. Abdel Aal faces the British forces in Upper Egypt while they are gathering peasants to join England in the war against Turkey.

Nafisa attends a party held at Farida's in the presence of British officers. Abdel Aal is arrested and then released, while journalist Tharwat conducts an interview with Farida, Murad's wife, to find out the entrances to the palace in order to steal Murad's diaries and important documents.

Abdel Aal accepts the position of Minister of Justice, upon the Sultan's nomination, for fear of being exiled if he refuses. The communist movement emerges in Egypt, led by Al Saidi. Abdel Aal is embarrassed after pictures of Nafisa dancing with the British flag are published, leading to her divorce.

The King plots with the British to have the British Sirdar assassinated by a member of a patriotic cell to embarrass Saad's government. Weapon warehouses are blown up in Ismailia, while Raafat is killed by the State Security police, and Murad is put on trial and stripped of his rank.
