Salwa, the wife of the successful surgeon Mohieddin, suffers from rheumatic heart disease. Laila, the successful doctor, suffers from the mistreatment of her stepmother, Camellia, while Nabil tries to marry Laila.

Laila suffers from Mohie's mistreatment, and Samia is still trying to get closer to Nabil. Camellia continues to discourage Laila in her studies because her daughter has not completed her education, and Salwa is still neglecting her health.

As Laila resigns from college to work at Mohie's hospital, she is surprised that Mohie appoints her as a nutrition supervisor there. Mohie changes his opinion of Laila and hires her at his private clinic, much to his wife’s jealousy towards Laila.

As Mohie and Laila begin to exchange looks of admiration, Laila denies to her father and Camellia the rumor of a love affair between her and Mohie. Salwa discovers Laila’s gift to her husband on his birthday, so she leaves the house. Nabil is still suffering due to Laila’s frigidness toward him.

Nabil proposes to Samia, and Laila is surprised by Sabri's request that she stay away from Mohie, so she agrees to marry Nabil, while Mohie rejects Salwa's request that he expel Laila so she'd return home. Mohie is surprised by the news of Laila's engagement and Salwa's return to work in journalism.

Laila confesses to Mohie that she agreed to her engagement to Nabil so that his wife can return home, while Mohie and Salwa’s children endure their disagreement and neglect their studies. Nabil is still trying to persuade Laila to resign so that they can open their own clinic, to no avail.

As Salwa's health condition deteriorates, surgery becomes the only alternative, while Laila continues to make sacrifices in order for Mohie's relationship with his wife to work. Salwa dies during the operation, while Laila takes over operations in the hospital after Mohie disappears.

Mohie puts the hospital and clinic up for sale under an assumed name, and Laila is still taking over Mohie's work at the hospital. Sabri asks Laila to help Mohie return to his work and home, and Mohie rejects Laila’s attempts to bring him back.

Laila plants doubt in Mohie's heart towards his wife in order for him to regain his self-confidence. Laila's attempts to make Mohie resume his life continue to fail, while Nabil is suspicious of Laila for frequenting an apartment, unaware that it's Mohie's.

Laila's secret of planting a letter in Salwa's name to make Mohie get on with his life is revealed. Nabil is surprised by Adel's engagement to Samia. Laila breaks up with Nabil, while Mohie agrees to perform surgery on Laila's father. Mohie asks Laila to marry Nabil and set up their clinic.
