The journalist Bashayir takes care of her siblings after her father goes to prison. As she tries to balance her job and their problems, especially the fact that her sisters are still unwed, she considers herself stronger without the bonds of love and marriage.

When Bashayir meets the pilot Hamad, the two start falling for each other. Hassa is so afraid of being a spinster that she is willing to wed a married man who has kids. Bashayir tries to convince Hassa to reconsider.

Hassa gets married and her husband forces her to serve his first wife. Bashayir grows upset with her youngest brother because he was arrested after a fight with his friends. Bashayir decides to tell Hamad about her father's incarceration, but he finds out on his own and confronts her.

Hamad tells his mother that he wants to wed Bashayir, but his mother refuses because she is a journalist. As Bashayir and Hamad agree to wed behind his family's back, Bashayir's brother fights with Hamad and beats him.

Abu Hamad (Hamad's father) kicks him out when he learns about his marriage. Hamad's uncle advises him to divorce Bashayir to reconcile with his parents. As Hamad divorces Bashayir, she decides to wed another to get over him. Hamad weds another woman.

Bashayir asks her husband for a divorce after he insults her. She runs into Hamad and discovers that he lost his sight in an accident. Bashayir decides to remarry Hamad.
