Hashem's uncle, the unjust mayor Mansour, tries to force him to marry his daughter Dawlat because of an old agreement with his brother Abdul Karim, despite Hashem's love for his colleague Fawzia, leaving Hashem confused about how to confront the injustice of his uncle, who spreads ignorance among the villagers.
Mansour is still pressuring Abdul Karim into wedding Hashem to Dawlat, so Hashem marries Fawzia and they move to their new home. As Fawzia becomes pregnant, Mansour learns, burns Abdul Karim's crops, and floods his land. Jaber, Mansour's assistant, threatens Fawzia with weapons.
Jaber tries to kill Fawzia, but a car hits him and Hashem treats him. Abdul Karim falls ill, so Fawzia and Hashem go to fetch him, but Mansour stands up to them. Hashem marries Dawlat, and Fawzia gives birth to Hanan. Abdul Karim signs over his land to Mansour so that Hashem could return to Egypt.
Hashem goes with the police, pays the dowry to Mansour, divorces Dawlat, and takes Abdul Karim to Cairo. Mansour’s lands are burned, so he locks in everyone he doubts. Hanan becomes a young lady. Abdul Karim marries Fikria, who gives birth to Rabie. Hashem’s company becomes a famous contracting company.
Medhat, a student at the Faculty of Engineering, meets Hanan, a student at the Faculty of Law, and Hanan mediates for him to work at Hashem's company, upon which the relationship between Medhat and Hanan strengthens.
As Mansour and Rabie visit Abdul Karim and Hashem, Mansour asks Hashem to build a bridge linking their village and Cairo, and he agrees. Medhat discovers Nazih's embezzlement, so Hashem orders that the issue be handled by the prosecution.
Hashem expels Nazih from work and gives him a sum of money with a trust receipt to start a new job. Medhat and Hanan get engaged. Hashem and his family travel to the town to start the bridge project. Hashem makes Medhat responsible for the project and returns to Cairo.
Medhat and Mansour cooperate and cheat in building materials, so the bridge collapses, and the townspeople rebel against them. Mansour gives Medhat a death certificate and takes the money he gave him.
Hashem gets arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment, and all his property is confiscated. Abdul Karim dies. Mansour still hides Medhat, so Medhat blackmails Mansour. Lawyer Omar, Hashem's friend, has the house returned to Fawzia and Hanan.
Fawzia and Hanan suffer from a lack of money, so they leave their home and settle in a boarding house, in which Fawzia works with Nawal, its manager, and hides the matter from Hanan, who drops out of university to work.
Hashem suffers from the prison's injustice. Hanan collapses after discovering Fawzia's work. Fawzia and Hanan visit Nazih to recover what Hashem paid him, so he agrees in return for marrying her, but she leaves. Omar gives them his apartment, appoints Hanan in his office, and makes her return to the university.
Omar asks Mansour to help Fawzia, so she refuses to travel with him. The good businessman Tariq Abu Al Saud asks Omar to file a case because of bringing spoiled foodstuffs from Europe. Tariq expels Adly, who previously refused to marry his daughter because of his poverty. Mansour visits Medhat.
Medhat appears as Fayek, opens an import and export office, and imports spoiled foodstuffs, so Mansour blackmails him, and Hanan meets Tariq and thinks he is his office manager.
The police track down Medhat and Mansour, and Medhat is caught red-handed, so Mansour is arrested after Medhat confesses. Hashem is released, and Hanan marries Tariq.
