The villagers suffer from the sharp tongue of Abdo's wife, Namisa. Namisa becomes angry with Abdo when she learns that he donated a sum of money to help people in need, and threatens to leave the house.
Namisa quarrels with Abdo and hits him for buying him an oud to play. She leaves the house and travels to her cousin's house.
Souad's husband refuses to let Namisa stay in his house, and Abdo tries to convince Desouky not to buy land from the wealthy lady Malak. On the other hand, the café patrons mock Abdo's purchase of an oud and his playing of it.
As Namisa considers seeking refuge with Abdo's aunt, Abdo resents everyone's continued mockery of what Namisa did to him, and an unknown person steals Desouky's money.
As Desouky reports the theft of his money to the police, Salwa tries to convince her mother, Malak, to continue her studies, but Malak is surprised when Dardiri asks to marry her.
Abdo mediates with Malak to agree to buy Abbas's land, and Abdo's aunt tries to convince Namisa to return to Abdo.
Namisa returns to her husband's house, and Ghanem blocks Abbas's way so he doesn't sell the land to Malak. Abdo tries to reconcile Jaber and his sister because Jaber refuses to support her.
Namisa insists on working with Abdo in the shop, and Dardiri tries to meet Atef to convince him to sell the land to him.
Abdo helps Bahiya, so Namisa believes that he wants to marry her. Malak hosts a big dinner for all the townspeople and the needy.
Namisa gets angry when Abdo sings in front of the villagers, and decides to travel to Cairo to buy a new shop for Abdo so he can leave work in the village.
Abdo is upset that Namisa has bought a new shop in Cairo without his knowledge, and Malak quarrels with Dardiri for trying to raise the price of Abbas's land.
Ghanem asks Dardiri for his sister Fayqa's hand in marriage, Namisa causes problems between Abdo and the shop's customers, and Malak objects to her daughter Salwa's relationship with Atef.
Namisa gets angry at Abdo's singing and playing, smashes the oud, and mocks Abdo in front of everyone. Malak accuses Ghanem of stealing money.
Ali offers to buy part of Hanfi's land because he needs money, and Abdo leaves the house and stays with his aunt to take care of her during her illness.
Abdo's aunt dies, and his wife, Namisa, quarrels with him because he gave up his aunt's inheritance to her neighbor. Ali distributes the money to the needy and the poor and buys Abdo a new oud.
Abdo is upset by Namisa’s greed, and when Shalabyah tells Namisa about the large sums of money that Ali has distributed among the people, Namisa becomes angry and quarrels with Ali for buying an oud for Abdo.
The school principal suggests that Abdo use his talent for playing and singing and collect a fee from his listeners to please his wife. Abbas asks for Salwa's hand in marriage for his son Atef and the mayor informs the police officer of his suspicions that Ali has stolen Desouky's money.
The police arrest Ali and accuse him of stealing money. Abdo testifies about his inheritance from his aunt, and that he asked Ali to distribute it to the poor, and that Ghanem's thief was the one who stole Desouky's money. Namisa tells Abdo the good news of her pregnancy.
