Kamal gets Bassiouni involved in many debts. Shalaby asks Bassiouni to help his daughter with her studies, while Sawsan tries to get close to Bassiouni.

When Zahran confides in Raouf about his illness, the latter tells him that it is a rare disease called Flavis and that he will die within a year. Shukri sets many difficult conditions for Bassiouni to marry Sawsan.

A thief breaks into Bassiouni's house but escapes before he captures him. As Zahran turns to Shalaby in search of a cure for his illness, Bassiouni reveals to them that the Flavis disease is the subject of his scientific research.

Hanaa confesses to Saeed her love for Bassiouni, whom Shukri discovers is poor. Zahran offers to fund Bassiouni's scientific research.

As the thief attacks Bassiouni again, he is rescued by the bodyguard hired by Zahran. Saeed comes up with a substance to eliminate the desert fly. Zahran is surprised by Bassiouni's indifference to his financial temptations.

Zahran forces Bassiouni to resign from his work at the Science Center to devote himself to his research, hides from him the fact that he suffers from Flavis disease, and includes a clause in his contract with Bassiouni preventing him from marrying until the research is completed.

Zahran tells Raouf that he likes Hanaa and wants to marry her, while Kamal tries to get close to her and warns her to stay away from Bassiouni.

As Hanaa refuses to marry Zahran, he accuses her of stealing his watch in retaliation. Sawsan's family takes advantage of Bassiouni's relationship with Zahran.

When Bassiouni discovers Zahran's illness, he decides to quit his work with him, whereupon everyone around him pressures him to complete the research. Bassiouni kicks Zahran out of his home and refuses to return to work with him, while Shalaby refuses to give Bassiouni his job back at the center.

As Khairi embezzles a large amount of money from work, Zahran intervenes to solve the matter. Bassiouni is forced to sell newspapers to earn his living, while Zahran asks Kamal to steal the research papers from him.

Shukri regrets his harsh treatment of Bassiouni, while Kamal fails to persuade him to return to work with Zahran, whose condition is deteriorating.

Zahran assigns Shalaby to complete Bassiouni's research, and when the former proposes to Sawsan, Bassiouni is shocked to find out that he did.

Bassiouni fails to dissuade Sawsan from marrying Zahran, and the latter's condition deteriorates, after which he is taken to the hospital, while Raouf refuses to perform a liver operation on him due to his poor condition.

Hanaa confesses her love to Bassiouni. Zahran escapes from the hospital, goes to Bassiouni, and begs him to treat him, but when Bassiouni injects him with the cure, he dies.
