Rakan seeks to get his son Amer married to become the chief of the tribe after him. When Amer meets the poor girl Shamaa, the daughter of a rope maker, he is smitten by her and wishes to marry her.
Amer tries to get closer to Shamaa and her family, and his mother notices this and seeks to keep him away from her so that his father does not find out, while the latter decides to ask for the hand of Shamsa, Amer’s cousin, in marriage for Amer.
Rakan forces his son to marry Shamsa, and Amer has no choice but to fulfill his request, but he agrees with Abu Shamaa (Shamaa's father) to leave the village to marry Shamaa.
Amer leaves with his wife, Shamsa, and the latter's father worries about his daughter when he learns of the situation, while Shamaa remains in love with Amer and waits for his arrival.
Abu Shamaa leaves with his family from Rakan's village, and Amer remains in Ali's tribe, claiming that his name is Matrud so that no one will recognize him.
Amer gains fame in Ali's tribe, and Shamsa refuses to leave Amer and return to her family, after which she dies after being bitten by a snake.
As Amer is saddened by the death of Shamsa, Ali offers him to marry his daughter, Haila. Amer tries to reconcile Ali and Nawaf. The thief Madi blocks the path of Abu Shamaa and his family and marries his daughter by force.
Abu Shamaa meets Amer and the former tells Ali that Amer is Rakan’s son, while Shamaa suffers greatly with Madi.
Ali asks Amer to go through with his marriage to his daughter, Haila. Amer returns to his village and tells his parents of Shamsa’s death. Madi divorces Shamaa, who dies after he beats her. Years pass and Amer remains unmarried.
