Hussein arrives in Desouk, where he’s appointed as the new prosecutor, whereupon he sets off with Ezzat and Asfour on his first night, upon receiving a report of Qamar's attempted murder.

Hussein, Ezzat and their men find Qamar, who utters Reem's name, after which he's taken to the health unit. Metwally and Mahmoud flee the crime scene for fear of being accused of killing him. Hussein interrogates Reem, who turns out to be Qamar's sister-in-law.

Zuweiba seeks to get close to Hussein and wed him to the daughter of the judge, Kamel, or the sheriff, Ezzat. Hussein spends his first day following up on the cases in the court.

As Ezzat hosts Reem in his house until the investigation is over, she takes advantage of the sheriff's preoccupation with the report and runs away from the house. Hussein goes to investigate a report at the railway station.

Reem hides with Asfour. Hussein tells Adel that he likes Reem, for whom Ezzat's men scout around. As Qamar awakes at the health unit, Hussein questions him to find out who shot him, and he utters Reem's name again.

Hussein tries to find Reem and prove her innocence, as he’s fallen in love with her, and suspects Metwally's involvement in the attempt to kill Qamar, after Sayeda told him that Metwally wanted to marry her before and Qamar refused.

Asfour objects to Reem's wish to turn herself in to the police. Adel sees Reem in front of Judge Kamel's house before she disappears. The police arrest Asfour and accuse him of harboring her.

The prosecution releases Asfour, then issues an order to exhume the body of Nour, Reem's sister, and reopen the investigation into her death, whereupon the forensic doctor proves that she was strangled to death.

Reem recalls that her sister Nour was tortured by Qamar before her death. Hussein criticizes the police’s neglect of the crimes in Desouk on account of the Parliament elections.

As Reem goes to visit Qamar, she runs away before seeing him for fear of the police. Asfour confesses to Reem that he killed her sister Nour, whereupon Metwally saves her before Asfour kills her.

As the police arrest Asfour, Abbas denies his connection to Nour's murder. Qamar dies in the hospital. Hussein asks Asfour to cooperate with him to find Reem.

Owais detains Metwally and Reem. Ezzat releases Asfour from prison. Metwally is shot, while trying to escape with Reem.

With Asfour’s help, Reem treats an injured Metwally. A masked man tells Hussein that Qamar was killed by the mayor, as he wanted to marry Reem.

It’s revealed that Owais sent the masked man to Hussein to tell him that the mayor had killed Qamar in an attempt to take revenge on him. Reem refuses to escape and leave Metwally to die.

Adel confesses his love for Fawzia. Owais tells his men about what the mayor and his family did to his father, causing his death. Asfour evades telling Hussein where Metwally and Reem are.

As El Sergany gets rid of the ballot boxes that contain votes for Abul Nasr, Hamdi wins the parliamentary elections. When Abu Karim takes over as the new mayor, the former mayor sets Abu Karim’s barn on fire in revenge.

Etidal threatens Zuweiba and Fawzia with informing the latter's mother of her relationship with Adel. Hussein reopens Qamar's case. Abbas shoots Metwally.

Reem turns to Hussein to save Metwally, and as the two arrive, they discover that he’s gone, after which Reem escapes when she finds out that Hussein wants to turn her over to the police.

With Hussein's aid, Adel proposes to Fawzia, and Ezzat agrees. Abu Karim denies his connection to Metwally's disappearance. Asfour refuses to tell Reem about Metwally's whereabouts and fate.

Abbas kills Owais, while Asfour gets rid of Reem, and Abbas and throws both their bodies into the river. Hussein closes the case of Qamar Eddawla Elwan's murder without knowing the perpetrator.
