Azza tries to prevent her husband, Abu Salem, from traveling and leaving his land to look for a new job, but he says goodbye to his children and entrusts his children’s uncle, Salameen, to look after them in his absence.

Years pass and Abu Salem does not return. His son Salem grows up and takes care of the land. He tries to push his younger brother Hamoud to take charge with him. Abu Musaad takes advantage of Abu Salem’s absence and conquers everyone and exploits them to his advantage.

Abu Musaad tries to convince Salameen to pressure Salem’s children to sell their land, and Salem quarrels with his brother Hamoud because of the latter’s recklessness.

Abu Musaad proposes to Hamoud to work with him, much to Salem's anger, and while the latter is looking forward to get engaged to Zuwaina, she falls in love with his brother Hamoud.

Hamoud works with Abu Musaad to buy fish and sell it at a higher price to the people. Hamid quarrels with Abu Musaad and warns him of the consequences of that.

Salem's friend tries to convince the latter to leave his land and work at sea in order to make more money, and Hamoud continues to work with Abu Musaad despite his mother's objection to that.

Abu Musaad remembers burning Abu Salem’s land, and his knife falling in the fire, and the people finding it.

In a flashback, the people grab Abu Musaad and accuse him of burning the land. They decide to hand him over to the governor, but Abu Salem refuses and forgives him. Abu Musaad convinces Hamoud to help him buy his father’s land.

Abu Musaad tells Zuwaina that she owns half of Abu Salem’s land, and that his children have seized it. Hamoud tries to get close to Abu Musaad’s daughter, out of greed for his money.

Hamoud asks Abu Musaad for his daughter’s hand in marriage, and offers his share of the land as a dowry for her, while Salem is forced to work with his friend at sea.

Salem gets sick from working at sea. Out of shock when Hamoud announces his desire to marry Abu Musaad’s daughter, Zuwaina decides to sell her share of the land to Abu Musaad.

A message comes from Abu Salem stating that he is still alive and will return to the village soon, which makes Abu Musad worry about his return, but the café boy Mahjoub admits that Salem wrote the letter and that it is not real.

Azza becomes angry at what her son Salem did, so the latter decides to travel to search for his father. The boat sinks and Salem dies. Hamoud marries Abu Musaad’s daughter, and everyone is surprised by Abu Salem’s return.
