As he starts his new job at the Cloud 9 superstore, Jonah's first day is off to a terrible start as he messes everything up, leaving floor manager Amy less than impressed with his shenanigans.

With a reporter planning to do an article on the store, Dina is shocked when she turns her attention to Jonah instead. Garrett refuses to be photographed for the article.

Amy gets mad when Glenn uses racial stereotyping to pick someone to man the salsa sample booth. Jonah makes a choice in the pharmacy that makes his colleague question his motives.

As Cheyenne considers putting her baby up for adoption, her idea sparks an argument between Dina and Glenn. Jonah is unable to find his place among the store's employees, especially as they mock him using a mannequin that looks just like him.

Left with no other choice but to take her daughter to work, Amy enlists Jonah's help to hide her defiance of store rules. Dina's job is put on the line as she goes after a so-called shoplifter.

Jonah's perfect test scores provoke Amy's competitive side, but the experience ultimately brings them together. The staff tries to prepare for the arrival of a secret shopper sent by the store's corporate office.

The staff competes against each other in an annual competition with a cash prize, even though Amy strives to hide the news about the prize. Jonah meets Amy's husband.

Amy tries to encourage Cheyenne and Bo to manage their expenses when they go all out for a wedding day sale, but her plan backfires. Glenn lends Mateo a helping hand with a section planned for same-sex couples.

As the staff stays late at the store, they soon find themselves locked inside the store by corporate computers, forcing them to come close in ways they never anticipated as they spend the night together.

In an attempt to win Jonah over, Dina gets herself demoted, leaving Glenn scrambling to find a replacement, as Jonah struggles to find a way to let Dina down easily.

The staff tries to figure out a way to help the laboring Cheyenne as their store's lack of paid maternity leaves forces her to keep working. As Glenn's plans to help her backfire, the staff comes together to protest the store's policy.
