Hamouda, a street fish vendor, leaves his local neighborhood and moves to a new upscale building. However, trouble ensues when their new neighbor quarrels with Hamouda's family, and Hamouda is unable to defend his wife.
As Hamouda meets the landlord and he's surprised by the wonder of the neighborhood. A single woman living in the building has a crush on the doorman and tries to get close to him.
As Hamouda's neighbor, Al-Hady, invites him and his wife over for dinner, Al-Hady's wife lands him in an embarrassing situation when she refuses to make their guests any food, but she eventually cooks inedible food.
When it is learned that a new bride is coming to reside at the building, ornaments are placed all over the building. Said's bride quarrels with her husband when his mother wears an embarrassing outfit.
Hamouda quarrels with his daughter when he sees her talking to their neighbor, a young singer. As Abdel Rahim has a meeting for the tenants at his apartment, he is shocked to learn that his wife has been trying to sell them clothes.
Walid goes for a football try-out, while a young neighbor develops a crush on him. As Walid's fans go to his apartment, Al-Hashmy doesn't let them in. When Sahar's family comes over to visit her, Hamouda pokes fun at them for their simplicity.
When a group of young fans comes to visit Walid, now a well-known footballer, Hamouda's son tries to take advantage of the situation to earn some money as he takes them to Walid's place. Meanwhile, Hamouda gets closer to the doorman, Al-Hashmy, and Abdel Rahim.
Hamouda quarrels with his son for staying out late. Sahar gets mad when her children pick up their ancestors' southern speech dialect. When Mahasen tells Manobeya that Hamouda is having an affair, Manobeya decides to have a makeover.
When Sahar's father insists on going back home, Al-Hady convinces him to stay. As Hamouda takes Al-Hady to a cafe in his local neighborhood, Al-Hady admires the place, much to Hamouda's shock.
When Hamouda's wife tells him that Mahasen said Hamouda is having an affair, an enraged Hamouda speaks with Mahasen's husband. Hamouda's daughter is still infatuated with the singer, Hamama. Al-Hashmy asks Hamama about his mother whom he left alone.
A huge celebration is held in honor of Hamouda's daughter who passed her exams. Sahar is enraged because said celebration takes place at her apartment as well as Hamouda's. When Hamama's mother shows up at the party, he is joyous to see her.
Hamama tells his mother he loves Hamouda's daughter and wants to propose to her. Fafany tells Al-Hashmy that she loves him. Hamouda takes Al-Hady's advice into consideration and has a new look.
Hamouda and Al-Hady learn that Mahasen buys clothes from local markets and sells them for pieces brought from Europe. When Al-Hady goes with his wife to a nightclub, he sees Hamouda's son there.
The wife of Hamouda's neighbor has a craving for sardines. Meanwhile, Hamouda's son and his friend invite to their place girls who have been abroad. The neighbors have a meeting at Mahsona's place.
Abdel Rahim uses his authority to kick Hamouda and his family out of the building because of his children's lack of discipline. However, Al-Hady interferes and advocates against it; he asks Hamouda not to leave. Hamama and Sondos get engaged.
