In 1956, the rabbi of the city of Boujad plans to leave Morocco for Israel. The conservatives of the city's Muslim inhabitants welcome the departure of the Jews. According to the law, the only bar there can be closed, so Mustafa, the bar manager, tries to keep the bar with the help of his son Hassan.
