Molly's platoon is on a tour in Afghanistan for six months with her young Captain James. Molly is one of only 2 women and the medic, which makes of an awkward situation since the sight of blood makes her queasy.

Molly strikes up a friendship with Bashira. The army reaches a Taliban-controlled village for a long-awaited stand-off. Bashira tries to warn Molly against pursuing Taliban as she believes they're plotting something.

Molly has a good time at the platoon's sports day but disaster takes place when three Afghan soldiers are killed by the Taliban. Smurf confesses his feelings to Molly.

While the platoon prepares to exit Afghanistan, Molly is faced with choosing between Captain James and Smurf.

After their return from Afghanistan, Molly struggles to cope with the aftermath of an attack that has left both James and Smurf gravely injured.
