Al-Munsif, a merchant in the ancient city, grieves when his wife passes away and leaves him with three children. His friend Qasim works in the trade field during the French colonial period in Tunisia, as all the country's wealth goes to France, which angers the people at the market.

Al-Munsif wants to devote himself to the factory that he bought after he mortgaged the house and the land for it. He asks his brother Al-Bahy to stay in the shop with Mahmoud to take care of it. Mahmoud suggests that Al-Munsif marry a divorced woman who will love his children, but he refuses.

Al-Munsif works in the factory and plans to increase production. When Al-Bahy quarrels with a guy for talking with his sister, Al-Munsif hits him and kicks him out. A woman complains to the police about the closure of her shop, and Qasim decides to go to the police department to make a complaint.

Tito flees to Israel with the contracts pertaining to the house and the land that Al-Munsif mortgaged, but the lawyer reassures him that no one can deny that both belong to him. Fatima looks after Al-Munsif's children, and he reconciles with his brother, Al-Bahy.

Baih is worried when she and her friend go to meet their two friends, and a man from the area sees them. Al-Tijany beats his sister when he knows that she went out; Al-Munsif intervenes and the mother is taken to the hospital. Al-Munsif feels that Fatima is trying to get closer to him.

Al-Munsif wants to marry Geneina, whom his brother loves. Al-Fadil sends an employee to seize the house because Hassan Tito has left him a procuration, prompting Al-Munsif to find a solution with the lawyer. Fatima is sad that Al-Munsif doesn't want to marry her.

Al-Munsif is worried that his factory will be taken from him by Al-Fadil. When Geneina's boyfriend abandons her on their engagement day, she accepts to wed Al-Munsif. As for her sister Moufida, a groom who lives in Germany proposes to her, and her mother approves of him.

Al-Munsif dies on his wedding day to Geneina. Al-Bahy becomes in charge of the factory. Qasim divides the estate. Mahmoud tells his wife that Al-Munsif registered half of the store in his name before his death, so she asks him to take his share and not leave it to Al-Bahy.

After Al-Bahy remains in the hospital for three years, he dies. Al-Munsif's son, Farouk, comes from France and searches for his sister Qamar, who lived with Fatima after Geneina sold her father's house. Al-Tijany takes control of the land and the shop that Mahmoud owns half of.

Farouk asks his lawyer friend to take over the case claiming his right to his father's inheritance, and he discovers that his uncle, Al-Bahy, has sold all the property to Geneina before his death. Farouk goes to Mahmoud's store, and Mahmoud is very happy to meet him.

Geneina's daughter, Adela, falls for Farouk and starts talking to him all night, while he goes to his uncle Mahmoud to search for the house papers. Moufida discovers that Geneina also likes Farouk and warns her that he wants to see the factory bills.

Qamar learns that her brother Farouk has returned from France and tries to meet her, but she quarrels with him and pushes him away. Khalil and Mahmoud try to fix the matter to no avail. Adela goes out with Farouk for dinner.

Farouk is happy to meet his sick brother Mahdy. Geneina discovers that her brother Al-Tijany is stealing from the factory accounts, and she tells her daughter about it.

Geneina sends Farouk to the factory at night to see the accounts along with the guard who resides in the same area of ​​Qamar and loves her. Al-Tijany agrees with Geneina's daughter to spy on Farouk.

Geneina takes the accounts file that Al-Shazly worked on to a specialized committee; the expert is impressed with its accuracy. Farouk decides to hire him as a director of accounts in the factory. Al-Tijany agrees with Al-Fadil to work on a project worth one billion dinars.

When Adela finds out that her mother will marry Farouk, she quarrels with her. Adela reprimands Farouk and tells him that she loves him. Al-Shazly becomes in charge of the factory, which angers Al-Tijany and Bou Bakr.
