On the eve of the Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, a French journalist named Richard is dispatched to Jerusalem to report on the city and its people. While looking for a story idea, he runs across Hammoudi, a Palestinian man whose mother vanished during the 1948 evacuation and whose picture he spotted in a newspaper.
