Looking to get rich, Bill Haskell and Byron Epstein travel to the Yukon to participate in the gold rush. Their journey to Dawson City proves difficult but they finally make it and prepare to start looking for gold.

When Byron is murdered, Bill relentlessly looks for his killer, refusing to give up on getting justice for his friend. Father Judge faces a threat to his life and his church.

As Dawson City falls victim to plague and harsh winter, Bill struggles to hold on with Belinda's help, leading to an unexpected connection. The search for Byron's murderer grows more complicated as the superintendent doubts the guilt of the suspect he has in custody.

As the Tlingit natives face execution, Father Judge finds himself in a difficult position when the killer admits to his crime in a confessional.
