After an attempt to clone the Pokémon Mew succeeds, the clone, Mewtwo, turns out to be evil and starts wreaking havoc on the world, upon which Ash and his friends decide to stand up to Mewtwo.
After learning of an evil mastermind's plot to control the world by kidnapping the birds of the fire, ice, and lightning islands, Ash Ketchum and his friends set out to stop him.
