Elias grew up in the Moroccan village of Tazzeka, where he learned the secrets of Moroccan cuisine from his grandmother. Years later, after he meets a great chef from Paris and a young woman named Salma, he decides to leave his homeland. In Paris, Elias struggles with precarious work and financial difficulties, just like any illegal immigrant.
