As Fathi and a Jewish girl are in love, their relationship is about to face many problems due to the lovers' different religions. El Nagy treats his wife as if she were a maid. Lotfi has secret affiliations with the English occupiers.
The Sheikh and Lotfi decide to form a group of the city's gentlemen to go to the English Resident to discuss the city's situation following the deteriorating condition of the merchants. They take with them the lawyer Mahmoud, who persuades the Resident to allow the street vendors to work in the market.
Lotfi invites people to cooperate with the English colonizer, but everyone refuses. Mabrouk works with the English colonizers and serves their interests at the expense of the locals. Shamoun wants to buy the house next to the Knesset for prayer and asks Lotfi to help him.
As Tekgago meets Fathi to talk about their impossible marriage, three young Jewish men appear to beat him. Then, the police come and arrest them all. Henoun quarrels with his daughter when he learns of her relationship with Fathi and no longer allows her to go out.
Ibrahim meets the owner of the bar, who advises him to get his daughter married before she scandalizes the Jews by marrying Fathi. Ibrahim asks Sheikh Miftah to warn Fathi not to speak to his daughter again. Mabrouk goes to Lotfi's shop to inspect it, which makes Lotfi angry.
Tekgago returns to school and Fathi goes to see her secretly. El Nagy is upset, after learning of his wife's pregnancy. Lotfi asks the matchmaker to go to the house of a woman he wants to marry in secret. He also gets the Resident-General to fire Mabrouk from his job.
After Lotfi quarrels with El Nagy, Sheikh Miftah goes to Lotfi, begging him to forgive El Nagy, but Lotfi refuses. El Nagy's wife goes to prison to see her husband, but he refuses to meet her and wants to divorce her.
Khairiya tells Mahmoud that a rich man who is forty years older than her has proposed to her. A rich man who lives in Paris proposes to Tekgago and her mother orders her to accept and leave Tripoli and go to live in France with him.
In El Nagy's trial, Mahmoud pleads in Arabic in front of the Italian judges. Khairiya's mother convinces her to marry Lotfi, and Khairiya goes to the fortune-teller so that he sets a magic for him to marry her. Tekgago is sad for not marrying Fathi and gets ready to marry the man who proposed to her.
Mahmoud meets Feryal, a story writer. As Feryal tries to show him her admiration, she gets jealous when she sees Khairiya leaving his office. Tekagago runs away from home when she learns that her father has decided to hold the wedding ceremony after he has bought all her trousseau.
Fathi hides Tekagago with his uncle in an area far from Tripoli, and the people inform the police. Fathi is arrested and tortured by the Jewish officer. Khairiya agrees to marry Lotfi knowing that Mahmoud is in a relationship with Feryal. Mahmoud warns Khairiya against this marriage.
Fathi is released from prison thanks to Mahmoud's help. An employee of the court tells Khalifa that his land has become the property of Bagimo because Lotfi owes him some money. The Sheikh now knows that the Jews want to seize everything in Tripoli with the help of the English occupiers.
Lotfi marries Khairiya, who knows that Feryal is his daughter who loves Mahmoud. A chase ensues between the English soldiers and some citizens who are smuggling weapons for the resistance. The Jewish officer inspects all the citizens in a humiliating manner.
Tekgago goes to court with Fathi, Mahmoud and the rest of the people of the area. She tells the judge that she is not under-age and wants to marry Fathi as she announces her conversion to Islam in front of everyone, which shocks her family. Fathi and everyone rejoice.
Lotfi asks forgiveness from the Sheikh and the men of the area. As Khairiya goes to visit Mahmoud, she does not reveal her husband's name to him. The Jewish officer searches the house of Mabrouk, who has hid the weapons there, but his wife moves it to another place.
Lotfi receives a message from an unknown person stating that his wife, Khairiya, knows Mahmoud. Lotfi doubts Khairiya and no longer goes to her every day. He goes to Mahmoud, showing him the message. Shamoun is trying to get closer to the Resident-General to gain authority in Tripoli.
After Lotfi is arrested, Mahmoud tries to find out the accusation against him. The Sheikh and the men in the area go to the police to find out the reason for his detention. Khairiya asks Mahmoud to let her visit Lotfi in prison.
Shamoun and Ibrahimo ask Tekgago's friend to drug her, so that Khamous kidnaps her. Fathi searches for her everywhere until an old man guides him to the sea. Fathi sees her with some men taking her. The Jewish officer asks the city Jews to buy as much land as possible to seize Tripoli.
Fathi can't find his wife, so he grieves a lot and retires from everything. Khairiya gets pregnant, yet Lotfi wants her to have an abortion. He threatens to beat her, but she insists on keeping the baby. As the Jews refuse to live in Israel, the Resident-General is surprised by their decision.
Feeling guilty, Lotfi agrees to keep the baby. The city's residents unite and demonstrate after realizing that the British want to stir up sedition between Jews and Muslims. Khairiya is killed and Lotfi is arrested for her murder. A person testifies that he has seen Mahmoud looking for Lotfi's house.
