In order to celebrate his second child’s birth, Viserys holds a tournament. Daemon is welcomed by Rhaenyra after his return to the Red Keep.

Viserys plans to marry Alicent after Queen Aemma's death, which upsets Corlys, so he decides to form an alliance with Daemon.

Corlys and Daemon fight together against the Crabfeeder, while Viserys celebrates his son Aegon's second birthday, and Rhaenyra confronts the idea of marriage.

Daemon declares himself "King of the Narrow Sea", while Rhaenyra continues her search for a suitable husband. The brothers celebrate their reunion, but Daemon continues his wrongdoings, and Rhaenyra accuses Otto of working for his own interests.

Daemon kills his wife, while an alliance occurs between Viserys and the Velaryons through the marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor, Corlys' son.

Ten years pass as Rhaenyra tries to deal with Alicent's constant speculation about her children’s lineage, while Daemon and his wife Laena consider a big offer in Pentos.

The families attend a funeral in Driftmark, and Luke injures Aemond's eye with a knife, causing an argument between Rhaenyra and Alicent, while Viserys calls for an end to the fighting within his family.

Rhaenyra attempts to secure the Driftmark succession by making a deal with Princess Rhaenys after six years, while Alicent keeps wishing for Aegon to become the heir.

Tension mounts in the royal court after the death of Viserys, as a conflict arises over the new heir. Aegon goes missing and Alicent searches for him, while Otto seeks to secure everyone's allegiance to Aegon as the new king.

The rule shifts between Aegon and Rhaenyra, and the latter considers giving it up to unify the kingdom, while Luke and Aemond fight using their dragons.
