As Jane receives a peculiar message from a mysterious ally, she sets out to rescue Rich Dotcom from a CIA black site. However, she must enlist the help of Sho Akhtar, a former nemesis.

In an attempt to get the support of Matthew Weitz, Jane and the team contact Patterson's father to help them get into an important conference in Finland, where Weitz will be.

The team is forced to handle a difficult situation after an operation goes awry. On the other hand, Madeline Burke goes to extreme lengths as she seeks to determine whether Weitz is loyal or not.

The team tries to recall crucial details from when they first joined the FBI in an effort to thwart a group of terrorists' attempt to obtain a lethal chemical weapon. Elsewhere, Weller becomes concerned when he receives terrifying news regarding his daughter's health.

The team has to save the lives of Jane and Weller after the former gets shot and the latter gets abducted. Elsewhere, Weller is subjected to torture in order to reveal where the team's hideout is.

After the Icelandic fixer Ice Cream comes back to collect his debt, the team ends up in a deadly race across the globe in order to get to the bottom of a bunch of riddles and retrieve the fabled Gardner paintings that were stolen.

As the team seeks to locate Madeline's supply of ZIP before she ships it to the United States, they split up and go on separate missions to different countries. Elsewhere, Madeline tries to find out information about Kurt and the team from a former associate.

As they become closer to knowing where the bunker is, the team struggles to gain an advantage over Madeline and Ivy. However, it turns out that Madeline has an informer on the inside.

With the plan of Madeline and Ivy in its closing stages, the remaining members of the team are detained by the FBI. However, some surprising allies turn up and attempt to stop Madeline.

The team is forced to turn to a person whom they have always found annoying, Kathy Gustafson, as Ivy seeks to recover the destructive cache of ZIP bombs.

As Jane comes into contact with a dangerous amount of ZIP, it's up to the remaining members of the team to come together to save her and find a way to stop the impending catastrophe.
