Jay tries to overcome the memories of a painful past, while Fauna arrives in Los Angeles, and feels desperate to find her family.

Fauna and Corinna meet, and the police go to visit Jay who is getting too close to the truth.

As Jay slowly gets closer to the truth, he suspects that the murder was not a transient or an unintended accident. Fauna searches for her mother, Tamar.

Fauna and Jay travel to Hawaii to look for Tamar and Jay hopes to find answers about the Hodel story.

With racial violence erupting in Los Angeles, Fauna decides that there is no other way but to confront her grandfather, George Hodel, over his activities herself, while Jay is in prison.
