Eve, a bored intelligence officer who dreams of being a spy, finds her deadly match in the talented assassin Villanelle. As the two women become obsessed with each other, they engage in an enthusiastic game of cat-and-mouse that fulfills Eve's fantasies.
Things grow tense after a fight between Eve and Villanelle, which leaves the latter in a critical condition. As Eve is drawn back into the investigation into the Twelve, Villanelle has to figure out a way to survive and get Eve's attention.
The inextricably linked lives of Eve and Villanelle as they both try to move on from past events, but they can't really do it with so much of yesterday in them. As Eve strikes an unlikely alliance and Villanelle lives with the feeling that something crucial is missing from her life, events unfold.
