After visiting their father, Sam and Phil pick up Frankie and Duke from the airport. Frankie wants to have a quinceañera for her 15th birthday, but Sam disapproves. After Rich's boyfriend breaks up with him, Sam consoles him.

Sam buys an El Camino after her minivan is stolen from the mechanic's lot. After the children buy a chinchilla behind her back, Sam responds by buying a white snake. Sam is upset over not getting a part she auditioned for.

Sam takes her two friends who are in the middle of getting a divorce to her ex-husband's lawyer. Jeff asks Sam to forgive him for his past mistakes. Sam's new manager Mal offers her a job opportunity.

Sam makes Phil take a DNA test. Sam's doctor tells her that her hands' muscles have atrophied. Duke's friend Pepper has a minor accident with the El Camino. Max and Sam quarrel when Sam neglects to wash her dress.

After catching her in bed with a boy, Sam wants to have "the talk" with Frankie. Frankie advises Sam to use a dating app to get to meet new people. Duke chooses ballet over soccer.

As Sam goes to New Orleans to attend Maneesh and Andrew's wedding, she explores the city and runs into an old boyfriend and his girlfriend. She consideres buying a house there.

Sam goes to Los Angeles for a housewarming party for her brother Marion and his wife Caroline. Sam gets high after taking too much of the medical Cannabis for the pain in her hands. She spends quality time with her three daughters.

When Sam and her girlfriends meet for a Father's Day brunch, it triggers memories of their failed marriages. Max and Frankie give Duke some advice, and Sam feels ignored.

Sam throws Frankie her 15th birthday party. Sam's ex-husband Xander attends the party, which upsets Sam. Xander tries to reconcile with Sam. Later, Sam goes to see Max at the restaurant where she works.

Sam goes to a Los Angeles Dodgers game with Duke and her friend. When Xander comes over for dinner, he finds that Sam and the girls went on a beach trip. Sam tells Xander that she forgives him for her daughters' sake. Sam and the girls move to LA.
