Sa'ady goes to work with his friend Hamad as a cleaner, and his blind mother asks him to take care of himself. His sister tells her father that there is a suitor who wants to propose to her and her mother agrees. Sa'ady is heavy-hearted, for despite being well-educated, he ended up a cleaner.
Sa'ady meets his girlfriend and buys her candy on her birthday. He promises to propose to her following his sister's engagement. Sa'ady's sister tells Hamad that she will get engaged and breaks up with him, the thing that makes him sad.
Sa'ady is sad to see his girlfriend with a man in his car, and he complains to Hamad at the beach. Hamad tries to calm him down. Sa'ady tells his mother that he is going to work in Oran, week by week, and she prays for his sustenance.
Hamad tells Sa'ady's mother that her son did not go to Oran, but rather traveled to Italy by sea through a secret route. Sa'ady falls into the sea and is found at the shore, and, grieving, Hamad and Sa'ady's mother go to see him.
