In the year '91, an uprising occurs against Saddam Hussein in the south, and as the fugitives take refuge in the cemeteries, Saddam decides to demolish the cemeteries and enter to search for the opponents.

The opponents hide among the catacombs, and Umm Jassim (Jassim's mother) fears for her son and advises him to marry, while Abbas accuses Salman of killing Mezbal.

Abbas is arrested as a result of the raid on the cemeteries, but he is not Abbas Al Shimi who has the secret manuscripts. Abdel Wahed, Iman's ex-husband, returns to Najaf and asks Khedr to help him get back together with Iman.

Abdel Wahed wants to buy the bakery and Abu Abdullah's house, but they refuse to sell, while Iman tells Mustafa of his return to the valley.

Haj Abu Nima urges Abbas to preserve the manuscripts, so he makes several copies of them, and Officer Rahim searches for the fugitives in order to reach the real Abbas.

The merchants provide flour despite the famine in the area. Mustafa communicates with Abdel Wahed and quarrels with his mother, who still loves him but does not want to get back together with him.

Everyone associated with Abbas is arrested for interrogation in order to find him. Mustafa sympathizes with Abdel Wahed and feels that he is his real father.

Samia visits Umm Jassim, and they remember the past, while Salman goes to the catacomb in search of the manuscripts, to no avail.

The officer interrogates Abu Nima regarding the manuscripts and the whereabouts of Abbas. Abdel Wahed works with a mafia that trades in antiquities and weapons.

Abbas hides in the cemetery with Salman, and they quarrel over the killings committed by Abbas.

Mustafa goes to live with Abdel Wahed, much to Haj's disappointment, and Iman meets Abdel Wahed, who tries to get closer to her. The police conduct the largest raid on the cemetery to search for Abbas.

After the police raid the cemetery, Abbas and Salman manage to escape, and Abbas goes to his mother, who rejoices at his return.

Abu Nima bids farewell to Abbas and asks him to take care of the manuscripts. Abbas heads to a remote village, where he is received by an old man who knows his story and helps him hide.

Abbas moves to another place to hide the manuscripts, while his mother checks on him. As war looms on the horizon and America threatens to invade Iraq, Mustafa asks his mother for money so that he can be exempted from military service.

Abbas wants to exact revenge on the Ba'ath Party, which caused so much harm to people, and Abdel Wahed seeks to find the manuscripts with the help of the mafia.

Khedr decides to get married, so he tells his mother, who rejoices at the news, while Abdel Wahed asks him to persuade Mustafa to return to his mother.

Salman searches for Abbas to make sure he is fine, but Abu Nima reassures him. Khedr marries Iman's sister, and a big wedding takes place in the area.

Abbas works in packing cement in some town, and at the end of the day, he gives his wages to a poor woman, which makes the employer very impressed with him.

Jassim's mother tells Mustafa the truth about his not being Iman's son, but rather that he was born in prison, and his mother was killed there.

Hamza quarrels with his mother over casting a spell in his room, and after Mustafa discovers the truth about his family, he leaves the house, and Iman asks Abdel Wahed to look for him.

Abdel Wahed is still looking for Mustafa for Iman's sake, and Abu Nima finds a young man hiding among the tombs.

Abbas returns to the cemetery and meets Haj Noman, who is very happy to meet him, while Iman's psychological condition worsens due to Mustafa's being away from her.

Haj Farhan is arrested by the soldiers in order to find out where Abbas is. Hamza returns from his travels and meets his mother.

Salman confronts the police during a raid, and they kill him. Abu Nima and Abbas are saddened by the killing of Salman, while Umm Jassim remembers the prison days.

Salman is buried in the Najaf cemetery, and Abbas continues the copying of the manuscripts. Abdel Wahed decides to take his mother and brother to help him remarry Iman.

Khedr wants to go down to the catacomb and dig to find gold, and some manuscripts are transferred by Haj Abu Nima so that they won't be lost.

Officer Rahim is able to locate Abbas in the cemetery, so he decides to go to arrest him and get the manuscripts. Iman agrees to remarry Abdel Wahed in exchange for getting Mustafa back.

The cemetery is raided and Abu Nima is arrested, while Khadr goes down to the catacomb and starts digging to find gold.

As the year 2003 comes, war breaks out across Iraq, and America launches a missile attack on Baghdad and its suburbs, so the youth of Najaf decide to arm themselves.

The people of Najaf prevent the American forces from entering the old city as everyone unites to defend Najaf, and Abu Nima dies in the cemetery.
